Need a Kick in the pants
« on: July 06, 2011, 11:01:01 PM »
I was doing pretty good. Then my husband's birthday came along and then my son's birthday and then mine. I have just ate everything in sight and then some. Granted no put that fork up to my mouth but me. I really need to get back on track. Can I get a "kick" of encouragement from anybody that's been there and done that. I need to know how to get back on track. I have tried every day but I just get too hungry and then shovel in the bad stuff.
I feel so pitiful that I am actually depressed and beating up myself. I was doing well with exercising and eating low carb. I sure would appreciate the help.

Hi adrhouston

First off you need to quit beating yourself up.  It is the carbs that are guiding your cravings not you.  This is really a lifestyle change not a diet so if we happen to slip and eat the wrong things...... you just start anew the next day.  Look forward not back and realize that until you detox that sugar out of your system it will be a bit of a struggle.... but you can do it.  Reread the basics set your mind to it and get right back in there.... I completely understand that life happens  ;D   We are here with you all the way  ;)

It happens, don't beat yourself up.  Just get back on track - when you feel the need to eat, drink a glass of water or pop a piece of flavored sugar free gum in your mouth!   :)

Welcome to the family, adrhouston! :) :) :) :) :) :)

I wholeheartedly agree with the other member's advice for you.

I would also like to add that until you detoxify your body from sugar, you can expect urges to eat even when you are not really hungry.
Sugar (i.e. carbs) causes our blood sugar (glucose) to spike and then quickly fall.
After the "fall" is when we will feel urges to eat set in.

For many folks, it takes about 2 weeks to completely detox from sugar.
But once you do, those cravings will go away and you will feel sooooo much better!

And remember, we're always here to help you in your FTS lifestyle.
What you do today is what matters!

I have tried every day but I just get too hungry and then shovel in the bad stuff.

Hello there adrhouston, you missing the obvious, to solve your problem.......EAT! I don't want you to be hungry, I never want you hungry. It's what you eat that will put you back on track. Protein and fats, cheese and eggs, heavy greens like cabbage and broccoli. Load up the fridge with snack trays from the book, buy some GG Brancrisps.

EAT your way through detox and stay away from all carbs! After a week or two you'll be through detox and all the cravings will end.....THEN, run the 3 day experiment as outlined in the book so you can get a handle on your "true hunger" and feeding schedules. Incorporate the 15 minute rule at the same time to get a handle on portion control.

TODAY, bullet proof your home....remove all foods and beverages that you can't eat, don't worry about the rest of the family....do this for yourself, they'll be OK.

Thanks Doug and fellow FTS. This really helped me very much.
This evening I was having a sugar craving. I was ready to get in the car and drive to the corner store and buy a Snickers bar. (more like 3 bars) but instead I made a protein shake. My whey protein has 1 carb per scoop. And I use Almond milk which has 1 carb per  8 oz.
Added two probiotic supplements and a few frozen strawberries. oh and a tablespoon of coconut oil.        IT was like having a shake. The urge has left me and my nerves are calm. It was a Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde moment.

I did have a can of sardines for breakfast. That was about 8 am. I know sounds odd but I really like Sardines. And along with it I had a GG cracker.

For lunch I had two fried eggs in olive oil. For a snack I ate pork cracklings, and then for dinner I made some tuna salad.

Yesterday, I made a pork roast with several pounds of greens. That was very yummy.

Tomorrow is my 57th birthday. My family is taking me out to dinner. I already have planned to have a beef patty or chicken breast with salad.

I am trying to take 1 tbs of Cod oil at least once a day just before bed. This helps lubricate my eyes. (I really have problems with my eyelids sticking.)
And 2 tbs of coconut oil during the day.

Is this too much?

Once again. I deeply appreciate yall's input.
