My new hobby and a question
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:27:34 AM »
So my friend and my aunt actually influence me to start my own veggie garden.. So tomorrow I am going to HD and going to get my stuff to get started..

I was wondering if anyone has their veggie garden and if so, what do you have?

I am aiming for:

tomatoes
asparagus
peppers (bell and hot peppers)
green beans
different herbs
bibb lettuce (not a big fan of regular lettuce and bibb lettuce is sooo expensive here)
and suggestions or recommendations will be appreciated.
Alex

I wish I could help Alex.... sadly I did not inherit a green thumb.  When ever I bring home a house plant hubs always tells it "Welcome to the house of doom!"  >:(  LOL  I so wish I could grow a garden I think it would be fun and save so much.  Good luck  ;)

Roma Tomatoes .A slicer  is a tomatoe for sandwiches like a Betterboy tomatoe.Roma tomatoes are firm and beautiful and last forever in fridge.doug just did a video for caprese salad that is a roma tomatoe meal. Betterboys and larger tomatoes are good for slicing for sandwiches or just sliced on a plate with salt. ;)

Hi Alex! :)

Your new garden sounds like it will be fabulous!

It may be a bit too late for asparagus since they are normally ready to eat in Spring.
But there is always next Spring! ;)
What you do today is what matters!

We have tomatoes and pepper growing now :) We had green onions, lettuce, spinach and carrots before.  Best of luck with your new garden!
