Okay y'all!! Close encounters of the sardine kind!

Well y'all, I have "ventured out!" I was in the mood for something different for lunch, so looking through the cabinets, the "sardines" were stareing at me!! After about half an hour of trying to talk myself out of it! I opened the can, expecting to see the litttle critters! LoL...Mind you, I don't "venture out" to much on my foods! I like what I like, and don't like to taste the "unknown!!" Much to my surprise, it was covered in mustard sauce, so, I immediatly cut them up to make it look more like tuna ;Dand took my first bite! and ya know...it wasn't THAT bad! and if it'll help me loose the weight, I am up for the "challenge" of downing another can! Guess I have to learn to have an open mind, huh? LoL...

They're actually not bad. Cause they're covered with sauce! LoL...and all I could really taste was the mustard!

Yummy...welcome to the other side...the sardine side.  I really like them sometimes...but I prefer the fish steaks with mustard instead of sardines and they are pretty tasty and a convenient snack on the road.  Just make sure to keep breath mints with ya! lol Try them on a GG Crispbread with some tomato or cucumber.

Me either Jeannie!!  LOL  I remember when I was a young teen I went on a date to a fancy Italian restaurant.  The guy was really trying to impress me I guess..... I thought it was so cool until they brought me my salad.... it had anchovies on it!!      All I could see was little minnows like you use to go fishing with LOL     I was so grossed out I couldn't eat anything    To funny    I don't remember having a second date    hee hee

I love those little fishies on GG Bran or low-carb rye bread with mustard.
They are fantastic with a Bud Ultra Light beer.

@Mouseissue, interesting!! LoL...may have to try it with the beer! May help hide the fishy taste MORE! LoL...Although, with it covered in mustard sauce, it really isn't bad! But will definatly try it with the beer! LoL...

I remember as a little boy (maybe 5 years old) tasting some pickled herring from a jar that my dad was really enjoying!
I pretty much reacted like Hanks did to the sardines.

Funny... But now, I occasionally enjoy those fishies too!
But there's one food I won't abide by that my dad also liked... that's fried liver!!! YUCK!!!

I am "skeered" to try sardines too!  ha ha   When I was a kid, I remember some guys decorating a car at the church after a wedding.  They put sardines under the hood on the motor as a little going away gag gift for the bride & groom!!  (That's my earliest memory of sardines..... Never saw anybody eat them.  ha ha )
