Help and Support
« on: July 16, 2011, 12:30:46 AM »
Started the program last Monday after reading the book on Sunday.  I found it incredibly easy to follow, but I gained two pounds.  Very discouraged.  In watching the sugar, I suspect I increased my fat calories.  Any help and suggestions are welcomed.

Can you give us specifics as to what you ate? We can help you look for some hidden carbs. They are sneaky!

Coffee mate liquid creamer what is the count on those??Try mini moos they are in tubs and a zero(whipping cream),or half and half which is a one or heavy whipping cream which is a zero. Each packet of splenda is one carb.Read the post doug wrote on splenda you will be surprised how many carbs are in one cup.Your deli meats should be a 0 or a 1 carb per serving. You have two weeks of detox. Then your energy level will go through the roof! You are doing fine. You get 20 carbs a day, spend them well. ;)
I am Umpa,Dougs wife.If I can help you please ask.I have a column on the homepage called ask umpa where I can convert your favorite foods to fat to skinny friendly. You do not have to go without anything.Enjoy the forum! :)

Coffee-Mate can be anywhere from 1-2 carbs per serving and if you're like me, one serving isn't enough. I've switched to heavy whipping cream, which works just as good. One tablespoon serving of that has 0 carbs and 45 calories (all fat though), so I can break that into 3 cups of coffee at 1tsp each. It helps!

Your menu looks okay, but the 6 slices of bacon will really add up the fat content. I know FTS is all about carbs, but I've found if my fat percentages are really high I won't lose as well. If you were to ask me, I'd just cut that down to a single serving of 2 slices. And the tomatoes are kind of high carb, so you might want to check on those.

Good luck!

Hi NSands... And welcome to the family! :) :) :) :) :) :)

I drink my coffee black.

But heavy (whipping) cream mixed with a little extract (like French vanilla) would be 0 carbs.
Doing this, you might be able to avoid sweeteners which are known to slow weight loss in some folks.
What you do today is what matters!

Another question, when looking at carbs and sugar on a nutrition label, do you count the carbs AND the sugar, or are the sugar grams included in the carbs?

Carbs - fiber - sugar alcohol (not sugar!) + Net carbs

The sugar is included in the carbs, but you can subtract fiber and sugar alcohols from carbs for net carbs.

Thank you.  Not doing too well this week.  Feeling a bit discouraged, but I will try to continue the program.  I travel sometimes and it makes it really difficult to stay on program.
