Strawberry Topping(can use any berry)
1/2 cup strawberries
2 tablespoons xylitol
3/4 cup water
Clean and slice strawberries.Put them in saucepan over medium heat .Cook down until thick and water is evaporated.
This can also be used as a jam.
Elderberry Syrup (great h1n1 preventative)
3/4 cup dried elderberries or 1 1/2 fresh (or any berry)
3 cups water
1 cup sugarfree honey
1. Heat the berries and water to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 30 minuets.
2. Mash the berries, strain, and add 1 cup of sugarfree honey.
3. Bottle and store, refrigerated. Will last for 2-3 months.
This is great taken by itself or in seltzer water,pancakes,on fresh fruit,in frostings,anyplace you use syrup.
Simple syrups
are no more than water and xylitol cooked down and flavor added to them.
2 cups of water
1/2 cup xylitol
Cook down until thick over medium heat .Add flavoring(peppermint,lemon ,banana,etc.)
The snowcone flavorings are great for snowcones and flavoring cream cheese frosting.The flavors are wild! Banana,watermelon,cherry,grape,etc.
I also use them in cake mix to flavor cake batter .
When you use them though cut way back on your xylitol because they are wicked sweet!You can use them instead of extracts.
