Biscuits and Sausage Gravy

Umpa-  I am craving biscuits and county gravy but know that I can't have them.  I see that you have made several comments about the two but I can't find a recipe on the forum for sausage gravy.  Do you have a recipe?  THANKS!

I am not Umpa ,but I have used this recipe and it was pretty good ,also made some biscuits with carbquick you can order from netrition . I have to used box items I am not a real baker like Umpa she & Doug will point you to a homemade one I am sure .

Gravy Ingredients:
1/2 tube breakfast sausage
2 T.  Soy flour
2 T. whipping cream
1-2 Cups of Unsweet Almond Milk
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
Cook sausage on medium in skillet. Remove browned sausage, reserving 3 or 4 tablespoons of the grease. On Medium, add soy flour little at a time so it want be gritty & lump up to the grease and cook until thick and bubbly. Whisk in cream and Almond milk a little at a time . Add cooked sausage. Heat on low until thick. If too thick, add more Almond milk to thin.

YOu are welcome tony have yopu tried the carbquick biscuits ? They are like the bisquik in the bag my mom use to make , Very good  . I cant bake like Umpa ,it doesnt turn out and I just dont have that kind of money I need to practice to be a baker .

I want to be a baker like Umpa  :-[ :( but I got to just stick to my simple recipes LOL

Not yet Jo. But they are on my list of "to buy" items.

I'm not baking right now. Don't want to heat the house up any more than necessary.
So I'll try them this Fall.

thats for sure tony I am in a small apartment and it gets hot quick I only cook in my oven in the mornings

Looks like a good recipe Jo. The carbs can be reduced more if you remove the soy flour and use a small amount of Konjac flour as a thickener. You need VERY LITTLE to do the job, start with 1/2 teaspoon and stir well for 2-3 minutes before making the decision to add additional Konjac a 1/4 teaspoons at a time.

Their are several biscuit recipes in the bakery book, here's one of them, enjoy.  ;)

Ingredients

   2 cups golden flax seed flour
   1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
   2 teaspoons Xylitol
   ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
   ¼ teaspoon salt
   ¼ cup melted butter
   1 cup unsweetened almond milk
   ¾ cup cheddar cheese (grated)           

Directions

1.   Preheat oven to 450.
2.   In a large bowl, combine flaxseed flour, baking powder, Xylitol, cream of tartar and salt.
3.   Stir in butter and milk just until moistened.
4.   Separate dough into 4 pieces
5.   Put one piece at a time between parchment or wax paper and roll out ¼ - ½ thick.
6.   Use a greased drinking glass or biscuit cutter and cut out 3 inch rounds
7.   Put on greased cookie sheet and bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes.
8.   Serve warm

  TIP- For drop biscuits start at #4 with these replacement instructions;

1.   Drop batter on a lightly greased cookie sheet by the teaspoon.
2.   Bake in preheated oven until golden on the edges, about 12 – 14 minutes
