I bought a bread maker
« on: August 07, 2011, 12:44:23 PM »
So I hope to bake some good low carb bread.  I also found Joseph's Pita.   Excited.  Now I need to see which one has the lowest carb.

Hi Alex! :)

We bought a bread machine 4 or 5 years ago for Christmas.
We haven't used it as all the recipes that we've seen are high carb.

Please keep us updated on your experiences with your new machine.
It would be nice to get ours back to work!

I bought this book http://www.amazon.com/500-Low-Carb-Recipes-Snacks-Dessert/dp/1931412065  at a bookstore and it has a lot of low carb recipes in it. I believe they are also for the bread machine, if I remember correctly. I need to get it back out now that my friend gave me her bread machine. I posted a recipe last night that I found online by googling the phrase "low carb bread machine recipes" and it turned out great.

Tony, I plan to use to the F2S recipes to make bread...  Donna, I read one recipe that you posted that sounds really yummy.. pls share whatever you have...So far, the F2S walnut bread and golden flax seed seem to be the first ones that I will try...now all I need is to buy the ingredient....

Thanks Donna! :)

I bought another book from Dana Carpender last year called:
"1001 Low-Carb Recipes: Hundreds of Delicious Recipes from Dinner to Dessert That Let You Live Your Low-Carb Lifestyle and Never Look Back" (March 1, 2010)

You can find it at:
http://www.amazon.com/1001-Low-Carb-Recipes-Delicious-Lifestyle/dp/1592334148/ref=pd_bxgy_b_text_c

I believe this book is the followup edition to the one you have which was was published in October 2002.
I find it interesting that Amazon is selling the 1001 recipe book for a couple dollars less than the 500 recipe book. :-\

Some of the recipes (well, a lot) are a bit high for the losing part of FTS, but many of them are quite acceptable.

Hi owensmath! :)

You're correct.
As given, many of the recipes are a bit high.

But I found substituting things would bring most of the carb counts down.
For example, xylitol for Splenda.

You can use Umpas bread recipes in your bread maker too.  Put in all of the ingredients in the Bread Maker and put it on the Dough setting and let it do all of the mixing.  Spray Pam in a loaf pan.  Put the dough in the pan and cover with a T-towel and let rise.  Bake in the oven according to Umpa's instructions.
