carbs/fiber question for discussion
« on: August 08, 2011, 06:29:23 PM »
My hubby had an interesting question.

If you eat something that has 10 net carbs and you take a fiber pill with it, will the fiber break down and counteract the carbs quickly enough to lower the net carb count?
Peace and blessings,

I have found no scientific evidence that adding fiber to ones diet from a source other than the actual food sources natural fiber will negate that foods net carbs.

LOL Jen, me too!  I didn't think added fiber would negate the carbs in the food but it was worth asking anyway. lol I'll let my hubby know....he will be disappointed he didn't figure out a work around so he could have more carbs! lol
Peace and blessings,

Hi izzet! :)

Late last year, I tried an experiment with fiber to see if it would aid in weight loss by "Breaking Plateaus with Fiber".
http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=1462.msg13321#msg13321

The results we inconclusive.
However, the benefits of eating lots of fiber make it a "must have" in my book.
It aids in reducing bad cholesterol, lowering blood sugar, dramatically reducing colon cancer risk, and improving regularity.
All good reasons to imbibe in fiber! :)

There was a visiting  Dr. on Dr. Oz that said people in other countries have "poops" the size of your head because they eat so much fiber. lol  I think if I ever did that I'd think my intestines fell out. ROTFL  Sorry I know that was gross as well as causing mental images you'd rather not have. :D

Sigmund Freud might believe that he has some kind of anal fixation. :D :D :D :D :D :D

If only the good doctor would become so obsessed with carbohydrates.
He might find many of his patients and viewers getting healthier and thinner. ;)
