Hi Barbara! :)

These used to be one of my favorites too!... Especially the soft ones!
I used to have a couple of them with my morning coffee and medications.

Yep... There I was eating meds for the problems caused by the cookies I was also eating!
I wish FTS came into my life MANY years sooner!!!

I do hope someone can find an FTS-friendly alternative for them.
I think replacing the raisins will be a challenge.

Yep! ;D Slow and steady as she goes!

I hope you can find a satisfactory raisin replacement.
If you do, please post a replacement recipe for Oatmeal Raisin cookies.

I haven't thought about them for a while. But all this talk of them has me missing them a bit.

I have a small catering business and cook for a small ranch (their family and staff).  So, as you can guess home-made cookes are a must.  I have to keep the cookie jar full and the catered box lunches always have 2 cookies/bx.  So, any FTS cookie recipes would be helpful, especially oatmeal raisin.  I bake the regular ones almost daily, so it would be nice if I had FTS ones for me!  I try so hard not to sample while I cook, but it's hard!

The sugar-free candy makes my tummy hurt, so I've given up eating it.  It's the xylitol, do you think?  That would make my last post a mute question.  :-\

Hi Marty! :)

Any sugar alcohol (including xylitol) can cause gastric distress in many folks.
This is especially true if you eat too much of it in a short period of time.

Also remember that sweet treats (like those with sugar alcohols) should only be eaten OCCASIONALLY.
This is because they are also known to slow (if not stop) weight loss progress.

What about dried blueberries as a replacement for raisins?  Distinctive flavor... I wonder how that would work.  Chocolate covered blueberries are WONDERFUL!  Full of carbs, though, I think.  I know there was a reason I didn't buy them and that's the only one I can think of.  I sampled one and then looked at the label.  Aren't blueberries on our list of ok fruits?

Hi Marty! :)

Yes... Fresh blueberries are OK.

Fructose sugars in dried fruits are far more concentrated then their regular hydrated versions.
Therefore, ounce for ounce, they will also be higher in net carbs.

Also, any prepackaged foods may have added carbs (i.e. sugars, starches, etc.).
Go by the package label.

Tony,  how does taking fresh fruit and using a dehydrator to dry them affect the carbs?  Just a thought, was wondering.
Look out Hawaii, I'm on my way!!
