Fat To Skinny Sloppy Joes

Fat to Skinny Sloppy Joes
INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion  2.5 carbs
1/4 cup chopped red pepper (green ok too) 1.5 carbs
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1/2 cup Heinz sugar free ketchup- 8 carbs or Walden farms ketchup  - 0 carbs
3 teaspoons sugar free maple syrup
¼ cup water
DIRECTIONS
1- In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, and red (green) pepper; drain meat on paper towels.
2- Put meat back in pan and stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and sugar free maple syrup and water; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper

We just finished lunch and I gotta tell ya, this recipe is a keeper.  I added 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke and that made it perfect.  Don't forget to add salt at the end.

I am making a cookbook for myself (work in progress) with only the best low carb recipes, this one is going in today.  Can't wait to try more recipes.  There are a lot here, it will take a while.  Thanks again, umpa.
