Out of town Until Next Week...
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:08:34 AM »
Hi Gang! :)

After today, I'll be scarce around here for a while...
My wife and I will be starting our vacation tomorrow and returning the first part of next week.

We're headed for Arizona!
We'll be spending about 4 days in Sedona, 2 days in Scottsdale, and 1 day checking out Tombstone and the famous OK Corral.

My wife has been under a lot of stress at work the last few months.
I hope this trip gives her the R & R she so desperately needs.
What you do today is what matters!

Have fun, Tony. I love Tombstone. I know a lot of people hate it because they think it's too touristy, but hey, that's the point. And it's filled with so much history for such a tiny little place. Definitely check out the re-enactment if you can. It's amazing how fast it happened.

I'm baaaaaaacckkk!!!  :D :D :D :D :D

We had a BLAST in Sedona!... Plenty of shops, restaurants, street musicians, and beautiful art galleries.
There is a plethora of psychics and "aura cleaners and photographers"... My wife and I couldn't help but giggle. :)
I often wondered where all those hippies went that I knew in the 60s. :D :D :D

The beauty of the "Red Rock" part of Northern Arizona and Sedona is simply breathtaking.
The vistas were so very inspiring. It's easy to understand why so many artists, writers (like J.A. Jance who I almost bumped into) have been attracted to it.
If you've ever seen the movie "Broken Arrow" (1950) with James Stewart, you saw Sedona before the stores, shops, galleries, etc. showed up.
But even with the development, the beautiful rocky landscape is still there today!

And if you've never visited the Grand Canyon... You MUST put it on your "Bucket List".
Standing on the edge of the South Rim looking a mile down at the Colorado River will make your knees weak.
You can almost see God's finger scratching out the canyon... It's truly majestic!

We managed well keeping up the FTS lifestyle there. All the restaurants were more than willing to accommodate us.
We had no weight gain (or loss)!... Probably because we did not exercise as much as we did at home.

It's nice to be back home!... I was really starting to miss my buddy, our miniature schnauzer, Winston!

Welcome back Tony...I'm sure Winston missed you too!!  We have three kitties that we pay a housesitter to check on while we travel.  TooSweet, my hubby and I were gone to California for a week.  Great trip.  Sounds like you and your wife had a wonderful time.  The Grand Canyon is on my bucket list LOL.  Your description makes me want to visit even more...you have such a way with words  8)  My hubby is talking about us pulling our travel trailer, packing up the kitties and heading west from South Carolina.  I was born in KS but never visited anywhere west of there except California and Vegas.  Vegas didn't do much for me but would sure like to see more country soon.  Congrats on not gaining..I know that makes the trip even more enjoyable!
Look out Hawaii, I'm on my way!!
