Dear Mr. Post Notifier
« on: October 11, 2011, 06:41:19 PM »
Dear Mr. Post Notifier:

I thought maybe it had been really quiet on the board lately because I am not getting any notifications other than for new members.  I went to the board topics and clicked on notify and it said do you want to disable...of course not so why haven't you been notifying me silly board notifier????? Have you recently found issue with my lack of attention to you or you just being difficult in your electronic glitch sort of way?  I've missed important milestones in my fellow FTS member's lives.  Please notifier will you begin to notify me again?

Me too Umpa, I have no clue what she just said.  I could not figure out this forum till Doug told me how to use it, and I probably still do not know much about it for sure.  I grew up in the days of electric typewritters, so I have the keyboard down I can type really fast, but when it gets past that I have no clue.

I changed some settings in my profile so hopefully that will get things going.  There's a lot of activity that I'm not seeing in my e-mail box. lol  I was basically writing to the post notifier complaining and wondering if it was upset with me thus not sending me any notifications. lol  :o
Peace and blessings,

Hi Izzet! :)

I think you were talking about the absence of email notifications for new posts and/or members even if you turn on "Notify".

I haven't gotten an email notify from the FTS forum since shortly before July 24, 2011.
I just look at the "Show unread posts since last visit." section at the top of the Home page and I see all posts made since.

I've come to like this :) ... It helps keep my email in-box cleaner too. ;)

Hi Izzet! :)

At first, it takes a little getting used to, but well worth it.
After all, what's worth having is worth working for. ;)

Actually, it's less work!... You don't have to ferret thru emails, click thrus, and then manage them afterwords.
In contrast, I find this easy peasy! ;D ;D ;D ;D

If this forum was one that you only expected rare or occasional contact, having email notifies makes sense.
However if you're a "frequent flier" (i.e. log in often) like me, those emails can actually be more work.
What you do today is what matters!

IZZET  you have a wicked sense of humor! :D Doug says you have to subscribe to the board to get notifications.I agree with Tony ,it takes me a hour in the morning and a hour in the evening to get through email.I had to walk away from facebook for that reason! :D I like to see the sun and go outside! :D
Rosie I wonder if there are employment opportunities for a typist .I am a two finger girl, when I have to type things out it takes me forever.I know lawyers  and writers use tape recorders and then somebody else types out what they say. :)

The latest version of this forum software just became available and I updated our package this morning...maybe that will fix the bug. As you can quite imagine the software that runs our forum is incredibly complex and a constant work in progress  8) I've clicked on "notify" at the bottom of this post. I should be notified when someone responds to this post....we'll see :)

I try Umpa!  Makes life interesting. I gave up Facebook also.lol  Thanks Doug for the update.  I see I have more mail today.  ;)

mouseissue....sometimes it's easier for me to quickly scan my e-mails than to log into a site.  If I see something interesting I'll go to the link.  I'll try both ways for a while and see which I prefer.

Hi Doug, :)

Mr. Notifier seems picky about whom he chooses to send his mail.
I have received nothing at all from our forum.

The sender email address is admin@fattoskinny.net, the e mail address you should be getting mail to is the e mail address in your profile. Please make sure your e mail address in your profile is correct and please make sure to add the admin email address into approved senders.

I double checked and the forum email notifier is a permitted sender.
I'll watch and see.
