Label Reading Confusion
« on: November 03, 2011, 06:47:27 PM »
Just when I think I've passed Label Reading 101, along comes Label Reading 102!  :'( The sample label says (don't get excited - too many carbs in this food for me but I've seen many others like it):

Carbohydrate 25g
  Dietary Fiber 14g
   Soluable Fiber 1g
  Sugars 0g
  Other Carbohydrate 11g

So are there 25g or 36g of carbs? 14g or 15g of fiber?  I'm so confused!!!  Am I getting cheated somewhere?

Hey Marti,
Based on that it looks like there are 25g total carbs with 14g of Fiber (1g of which happens to be soluble fiber).  That means it has 11g net carbs (the carbs you count!).  Hope this helps!  ;)
