Ready to slay the sugar dragon!
« on: December 25, 2011, 07:57:51 PM »
Hi all...

I've been lurking this past week and am listening to Doug's audio book for the second time.  As I was driving home from a big food day this evening, I heard the subheading of "slaying the sugar dragon" on the audio book and know that's what I'm ready to do.  I've done what seems like every diet out there, including the extreme forms (raw, vegan) and I gained weight!  I've been sugar/flour free in the past and feel my best eliminating sugar.  From past experience, I need to make the change when I don't have big temptations in my face, so I decided to wait until the end of today's meal to make the commitment.

I'm excited to be doing this for myself.  I'll be 43 in a week and beginning a new career upon graduation in May.  What a great day to begin!  For so many years I've abused this body I've been blessed with, with the junk I've been putting into it.  Today I commit to begin treating this body as the temple that God created it to be.  I know from past experience that the first few days to a week can be rough, with the detox, so I'm sure I'll be checking in as often as I'm able.

For accountability, I'm 5'7 and probably close to 180 at this point.  I'll step on the scale in the morning to know for sure.

Thanks so much for being here and Merry CHRISTmas, everyone!  :)

Thanks so much for the warm welcome!  :)  I'm just so grateful to be through the bulk of the food-laden holidays this year and I'm thankful that next year when the holidays roll around, I'll have some time (and sugar freedom) under my belt.  I'm excited to be on my way!

You are all such an inspiration.  I know that I'm in the right place.

Thank you!

Hi Faith and welcome to the family!   ;D  I know you will LOVE FTS.  I tried atkins several years ago but got really bored just eating meat and veggies.  Oh my...you just HAVE to try the fts one minute muffin!  Chocolate is my favorite, but the spice one is AWESOME with cream cheese too!  Montuen is SO right about the replacements.   This works for me because I never feel deprived!  So glad you are here!!!  ;)

Welcome to the family, Malene and Faith!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Recognizing what's wrong is the first step of the FTS journey.
What to do about it, is the second step.
All remaining lifelong steps are living the FTS lifestyle.

With all the wonderful low/no sugar alternatives PLUS all the great support we offer here, all you need is the commitment.
Given all that, success and reaching your goals are only a matter of time! :)

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your FTS journeys.

Tony

Thanks so much for the great WELCOME  :D  I have to admit had a hard time slaying the sugar dragon today.  But I know tomorrow will be a better day.  I remember the freedom I felt once (ketosis) the sugar left me.  I wasn't hungry at all! However once sugar hits my lips all heck breaks out and all I want is more.  I really have to read labels for hidden sugar.

Take Care
Faith ;)

Two weeks and you will feel like a million bucks and your sugar cravings will go away.Peanut or Beanit butter is great for getting past sugar cravings.Chewing gum works too. ;)
