Simple frozen treats
« on: January 10, 2012, 08:30:17 AM »
I was going to add my creation to this old toppic but then I had a hard time finding it again.  I decided to just make a new post and add a link to it to show that the flavor options are endless : http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=687.0
I had a ton of Heavy whipping cream left from the holidays (shhhhh  don't tell anyone that I had bought some not remembering that I had already gotten it  ::) LOL)  So I wanted to find ways to use it up.  Here is what I came up with.   ;D

My first set:
2 cups of 0 carb heavy whipping cream,
1/8 tsp of peppermint extract
enough sweetener to taste (I used Torani vanilla but you could use any you like in a liquid form)

Mix all in a chilled mixing bowl and whip it until it is stiff.

I dropped rounded spoonfuls on a parchment papper lined baking sheet, topped with crushed sugar free peppermint candy and put in the freezer.  These didn't last long enough to know how well they will hold up in a storage container   LOL  But it seems to hold up pretty good for a couple of hours.

I only used half of the recipe for the mint clouds and put the other half in the fridge until I could play with it some more.  The next day I mixed some Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup in (maybe 2 Tbs) and chunked up 2 Hershey's sugar free miniatures.  Poored into my Popsicle molds my mother used when I was a kid (Thanks mom  8))
* note:  Keep in mind the mint is already in there

These came out so good!!!   :D :D :D

I used 0 carb Heavy whipping cream so the carb count is so small (about 1 for all)
I also made one with the small throw away cups and a straw stuck in the middle for the stick to see if it would work well.  It's perfect!!!  I wish I had taken a picture of it before I ate that one...LOL  I think the throw away cups (the small bathroom cups) were about $2 for a package of 80 .5 oz cups at Walmart.  The straw was a little floppy so I need to find something else.  (I don't like the wooden sticks  :P :P) But you don't even have to have the fancy Popsicle molds.

There are so many possibilities here.....just imagine all the flavors you could come up with  ;D ;D   I can't wait for summer to come around LOL

I love the idea of the mint clouds.

I have some cream I need to get rid of, too.

You know ... before I start losing it and drink it from the carton!  :D

I so know what you are saying Rena...LOL

Did I say almost 0 carbs?! LOL  Marty we can save those carbs for other things  ;)  I'm with you 1/2 cup is hard to stick to.  Although I don't think it is a really good idea to eat to many of these.  The fat content is a bit high  :'(

For My next batch I'm making chocolate with peanutbutter cup pieces  Yummy  ;D

I'm going to make these later this year when it warms up around here.
This morning, it was 28 degrees. It's about 40 right now. A bit too cold for frozen treats.

Thanks, Shawn! :) :) :)

... Last night my ___ neighbor's dogs, of which she has NO CONTROL, started barking at a skunk that comes around because she leaves the dogfood outside. They carried on until the skunk blew. STIIIIINK! My furnace chose just that time to come on and pull some nice outside air into the house!!! It was my fault - just hours before, I had discussed those dogs with another neighbor and said that the skunk hadn't been around for a while. Why does that happen, do you suppose?

It's like like having a stretch of nice weather and commenting that it hasn't rained in a while.
After you say that, you better prepare for a monsoon.

I hope you can get that stink out of your house, Marty.

Oh what fun Marty!!  LOL   When I was a kid we had a great dane that got to curious and to close... :o :P  LOL  It took a lot of tomato juice to get her right again....poor girl

I didn't get to try the peanut butter cups because I forgot I had eaten the last one...imagine that!!  LOL   So I thought orange creamsicle.  I used the same idea I had with the italian soda and used Walmart brand orange drink mix.  I kinda like them but the ratio is off a bit.  I think I needed more heavy whipping cream for what I mixed in.  A work in progress but I think it could work.  They are ok for me but I wouldn't share them with others the way they are...LOL  A bit tart and it seems like the fat content was very evident with this one.  Felt waxy in my mouth  :P  :P  I'm not sure what I did different.  My fave so far is for sure the mint chocolate  ;D
