Worst of the Worst recipes! YUCK
« on: January 13, 2012, 09:58:41 AM »
OK Gang.... this is the place for failures! As I've cooked over the years I've had occasion to chunk a recipe right into the trash :) Have you ever had the same experience? If so tell us about it all in fun of course  ;)

Here's one of my all time favorite failure stories.

Hot Dog Pancakes with mustard....yep with mustard. In an effort to replicate corn dogs I tried making hot dog pancakes, right in the trash they went!

Some time ago, I accidentally used baking soda instead of xylitol.
They were next to each in plastic containers in the pantry.

Man oh man!!!... Was that a gross surprise! :P :P :P :P :P

One time I tried to make peanut butter cookies using the Walden Farms peanut butter....oh me.  don't do that!  It went right into the trash.  ha ha  Definitely stick with beanit butter, soynut butter, or other low carb peanut butter.   I don't even know if there's anything resembling a peanut in the Walden Farms brand.  ha ha  (But I DO love ALOT of their other products!)   ;D

Marty it seems I remember reading somewhere that if you mix it in with a little oil it will dissolve without lumps and you can them add it to hot liqids easily.  I've not tried this yet and I can't seem to find where I read that...LOL  Brain not working today  ;)  For me I just lightly dust and whisk at the same time and it seems to work pretty good.  It's a wonder that it does though because it requires one hand to have no idea what the other is doing.... ;D ;D

Hi Beth, I just go by the regular omm recipe here on the form.  I've just found that my favorite 2 flavors are chocolate, and a spice muffin.

For the chocolate one I use all almond flour adding 3 tsp hershey's cocoa and 4 mounded tsp xylitol.  Sometimes I add a little shredded unsweetened coconut and it ends up tasting like german chocolate cake!   ;D

For the spice muffin I use all flaxseed meal adding my 4 tsp xylitol, some cinnamon, ground cloves & ground allspice.  I don't measure the spices, I just spinkle it on there to my taste....but I do put so much that it turns the mixture darker.   ;)   Oh, and this spice muffin is unbelievably good with cream cheese spread on top while it's still warm.   :)

I know that Rena makes the chocolate one, so she may tweak hers differently.  Alex makes these too.  Maybe they will give some hints too.  Once you get them to suit your taste, you will be hooked!   ;D
