soy flour
« on: January 15, 2012, 08:04:42 PM »
I will take your advice and make my own almond flour since I drove all the way to tampa and they were out of the flour. I did buy the gg bran crisp crackers and you are all right it tastes like cardboard. Even with the peanut butter. I went to whole foods and they did not have much from the book so I will try to subsitute. Has anyone used soy flour. If so with what? Thanks for all your help. I am on day 2 and detoxing sugar.

Umpa has lots of recipes that use soy flour in the bakery book, Sweeties. You get a free book of your choice with 50 posts... hint, hint! :D

I don't use soy flour that much because it's higher in carbs, but I do keep it on hand. Mostly I prefer flaxmeal and almond flour.

You kind of get used to the GG Crispbread after awhile. Try them with a thick slice of cheddar.

I like ggbrancrisp with peanut butter and honey ;) Since soy is higher I usually cut it with other flours. But it is as close to white flour as you can get.My scone recipe is soy, because nothing else would work.At high oven temps it gets alittle bitter.Sweeties Netrition has flat rate shipping of $4.99 for all the stuff you want, you cant pay for gas to go to Tampa for that ;)

Hi Barb.  I found mine at my local grocery but I know that not all carry it.  Here is a few links for it on line
http://www26.netrition.com/bobs_soy_flour.html
http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&keywords=soy%20flour&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asoy%20flour&page=1
I see that some Wal marts carry it as well

Also most any health food store would carry it as well  ;)

No problem it takes very little soy flour.Great breading we use it at least once a week.In the oven for baked goods it turns bitter sometimes not when frying though. ;)
