Has anyone had success grinding flax seeds into flax meal? Does it work with a food processor? Thanks.

Hi Downeast  I like to grind my own flours and meals and have many times with no trouble.  Most of the time it is much cheaper that way.  I have one of those ninja's but I like to even use a coffee grinder for small amounts.  Works great  ;)

I got my ElCheapo coffee grinder at WallWorld(Walmart), the small one.  You can
grind up two or three tablespoons PDQ and two things about grinding your own.

1. Flax seed stored in a ziplock bag and a dark cabinet last for a very long time.

2. Much cheaper than buy the ground flour and you control the grind size.

I love to make flaxseed pancakes fresh off the grill.

I chop sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds with the S blade in the food processor with great success. I once tried to do sunflower seeds in a coffee grinder and just ended up with a paste, so I got rid of the grinder. I'm wondering if the S blade would work to make flax into flax meal.

It sure will downeast! :)

Flax seeds will keep a long time. But after they're ground, not anywhere as long.
I make about a pound of flax meal at a time.
I put it in an airtight container (or Ziplock freezer bag) and keep it in the fridge.
