Cholesterol screening again.
« on: May 25, 2010, 09:41:35 PM »
I went to a cholesterol screening a few weeks back. I went through a battery of test and my results came out very good.
Per my Dr. She called me last week wanted me to get my blood work done. I told her about the health fair. She said that did not count she wants me in for testing. I think my wife put her up to it. Anyways I went in today and the vampires drew blood. I'm a little nerves now. Should get results soon. Fingers crossed. I have been following Doug's advise 99.8%

Ok I'm not sure how to read it. I think my Dr. always tries to to scare me into her conventional wisdom ways.  >:(

My BG 12 hour fasting was 141 last time 239

A1C was 7.0 last time 9.8

Triglycerides 113 last time 370 :o

HDL was 55 last time 42

LDL 190 last time 77

Over all 268 kind of high ::)

I went to a health fair a little while back @ 3 weeks said my over all was 169

Hello Phil, your doctor should have told you that your cholesterol readings from before would have been skewed by the crazy high triglyceride readings. Now that your tri's are in good order your current cholesterol readings are most likely accurate. I want you to add more fish into your plan, fish oil tablets into your daily vitamin pac, Colestoff from wall mart into your vitamin pac and Benecol spread, which contains plant strolls into your plan. All your numbers are looking great and will continue to improve. As a side note it was the plaque caused by high Tri's resulting from high concentrations of blood sugar that caused my heart attack.

I talked to someone today who is in his 40s and just got out of the hospital for a heart cath. He has to go back in a month for another one for a 100% blockage they found. He said his triglycerides were in the 3,000s. I had no clue they could go that high.  He is a diabetic who hasn't been taking care of himself. Guess what I told him about? : )
