Sent Charlie Home!
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:25:45 AM »
Last night as I was turning out the last light on my way to bed, I saw my 32 oz. glass of water sitting there, untouched. Uh oh! Sure enough, I woke up at 1:30 when Charlie Horse came visiting. Decided to try out the teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. It WORKED! Almost instantly and for the rest of the night!  The cramp was on the side of my leg - hard spot to work out. Every time I woke up after that, I thought, "I have to tell my FTS buddies that it works!" Then I almost forgot to tell all y'all.

Good to know! I always get those and didn't realize it was a water thing. I will try drinking a big glass before bed. :)

It's so easy to become mildly dehydrated and not even know it.

I wonder how many of us are not drinking enough water and have been wondering about stall outs and cramps?
What you do today is what matters!

I was getting really bad leg cramps for awhile, even though my water intake was good. I exercise a lot, and drink during that, so that helps. I started taking extra calcium and potassium and the cramps are no more. Man, those things hurt!

Just an FYI - last night a woke up with a little charlie horse - more of a pony, but persistent. I only had half a glass of water by the bed, so I just put in about 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. It took about 5 minutes, but worked.

I agree. I take an extra potassium vitamin every day. I've been running around a lot lately and haven't drunk enough water. Today I'm concentrating on drinking water. Big glasses. I like it, so that helps!

I just wanted to pass on a remedy for when those muscle cramps jump on you in the middle of the night and you need instant relief.
