App for Iphone
« on: February 24, 2012, 10:12:01 PM »
Is there and app for carb counting for my Iphone that anyone would recommend?  I've looked at a few but none were "user friendly" for me.

I also use Fat Secret, but only on my laptop. My husband has it on his iPhone.

My husband found a really cool one for the Iphone this morning called Carb Master and it's free. It lets you count your carbs, enter your weight, enter your specialty foods in and tracks everything. I was pretty impressed and that's the free version. The paid version has lots more foods already entered and probably has more bells and whistles.

I use Lose It! (free)

I down loaded this app and was able to track all day.  So far I love it.  I really love the fact that you can scan the bar code and add it to your daily intake.  Thank you  ;D

Umpa, you can get Lose It! on your Nook. You can't scan barcodes with it - at least, there's no camera on my nook... but it tracks your foods. There's another free app that you can get on the nook that tells you which foods are more at risk for sucking up pesticides, etc. Maybe I already mentioned it here... seems like there was some conversation about it in How Does Your Garden Grow?.

I love my nook, too, Umpa! I check up on everybody here in FTS Land with it before I hit the hay in the evenings. What a delightful little gadget!

get this --------- I scanned my frozen cauliflouer in cheese sauce for my dinner meal along with my drumsticks and I checked my carbs on the (lose it app) and I had 58 carbs  ???   :o   WOW how could that happen?  So I checked all the food I ate today and this is where it was it had 30 carbs!!!  I read the label (after I bought it not while I was at the store  :'()  and it said 10 grams and I thought that would be ok.  Until I read there was 2.5 servings in that little container!  I did not eat the whole container!  The app made me realize how much I was actually eating.  Thank you everyone for help with the app.  Really helps you realize how much you are actually eating  :o

Wow! I can't even imagine eating 58 carbs in one day! Those apps are really good for letting you know what you're putting in your body.  Good job of reading the label, Barb - even if it WAS after the fact! You'll catch it sooner next time!
