What is "PINK SLIME" and are you eating it? Bet you are :(
« on: March 18, 2012, 09:45:41 AM »
Thanks Steph and Donna for bringing this to my attention.

Pink slime’ is a term describing Lean, finely textured beef (LFTB) Small trimmings and bits from beef cuts that are heated to about 100 degrees and then spun in a centrifuge to remove fat. The resulting gelatinous pellets are then treated with ammonium hydroxide gas to kill bacteria before being added to ground beef.

Wow.... YUCK...  :o :o  I'll keep picking out a roast and asking the butcher to grind it up for me into ground beef  ;)

Yuck is right, Doug!!! :P :P :P

This stuff sounds like processed canned dog food.
I'll bet that many of those canned dog foods with so-called "beef" are loaded with this stuff!

When I go shopping the first place I head is to the dog food for a months
worth of can real meat dog food and treats, then I shop for myself. Low Carb/FTS is not a bad lifestyle for my girls and don't think they don't know
when chow is ready to be served up.

I am very glad your buddy is doing well and recovering, it's worse than
having a sick kid (wait that is just a four-legged kid anyway)

Hi Jo! :)

The little guy is probably not over the infection.
Sometimes, it takes a few days to see a difference.
I'm saying a prayer for your pup.

I know I'm not a my goal yet.
The best way to tell is the old (and reliable) "pinch an inch" test.
When I pinch my midsection, there is more than an inch of FAT between my fingers. And it's not loose skin either.
I will say, it's much less than a few months ago.

As soon as I get close to that 1 inch around my middle, I'll post a new pic.
When I do, I'll make a new posting in the "Success Stories" section about it.
What you do today is what matters!
