If your iron is low try....
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:27:04 PM »
I've benn anemic all my life, and have had to take iron pills all my life. My mother n law suggested takeing turnip greens(which I love)and lettuce and use that as a lettuce wrap! Plenty of iron that way! Anymore suggestions for low iron? I'm still takeing the pills, but just looking for an iron builder. Haha...my mother n law suggested, she could make me an omlet useing an iron pan?! hahaah...

Hi Stephanie! :)

Here are a few...

Chicken liver, clams, mollusks, oysters, beef, sardines canned in oil, turkey, spinach, tofu, pumpkin, sesame, squash seeds.

And to a lesser extent; halibut, haddock, perch, salmon, tuna, ham, or veal.
What you do today is what matters!

And the iron pan is a good suggestion.  My favorite skillets are old, seasoned cast iron ones from my mom and grandmother.
