Success to me is convincing myself to START
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:56:45 PM »
Success to me is when I saw this book at the book store.  I purchased and downloaded it last night.  Sneaking peeks at it while at work.  I actually now have it on my work computer, home computer and droid.  Don't you just love technology.  This is my first attempt at joining a forum.  I look forward to making the time to read some posts.  Maybe I shouldn't be in this category, so please excuse me for being a newbie.
I am Type II diabetic on meds.  Haven't taken the whole thing seriously though until told insulin would be the next phase.  YIKES!!  Say it ain't so.  So at the age of 62 and my children are in their mid 20's, I need to stick around for a long time.  Plus I love to quilt/sew and have way too much fabric to leave behind.  I am 5'7" and 242 pounds.  Up until my 40's I was a much smaller person around 140 or less.  So I hope my body and mind will cooperate with me at my age and make this a success.
Thank you for letting me blabber.

Yeah for you, pbeaulieu!  I didn't see anything in your self description that will keep you from being successful.  This is the first (and only) forum that I've participated in, too.  I was shy at first but I don't think that describes me anymore.

I'm 59 so being 62 isn't going to matter.  There are former diabetics on the forum and they'll chime in about the improvements they've had by adopting FTS as a lifestyle.  Your mind is already made up so don't second guess your decision -- GO FOR IT!

Welcome, Pbeaulieu, you'll do great on FTS! This is the last weight loss program you'll ever need! We're glad you're here and look forward to hearing from you often - blabber on! Actually the forum kind of keeps you on track. If you have problems, you can post them and someone will give you a big cyber hug, lots of advice, sympathy and support! You'll also find a few giggles and lots of fun along the way.

I believe several people on FTS with type II diabetes have been able to get off their meds and are now cured, so no worries! Just be patient.

Oh, and take your measurements so if the scale isn't moving, you can still see inches coming off.

Welcome to the family, pbeaulieu!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

I'm 60 years old and could not imagine eating any other way!
I've been living the FTS lifestyle for about 1 1/2 years and am loving it! ;D

I WAS type 2 diabetic and taking Metformin.
Also had high BP and my bad (LDL) cholesterol was high and the good (HDL) low.

After living the FTS way for about 6 months, my doctor took me off Metformin and declared I was no longer diabetic! ;D
My BP and other numbers DRAMATICALLY improved too!

I feel like a new person!.
I can almost keep up with my 25 and 31 year old sons! 8) 8) 8)

If you commit to this and NEVER give up, you'll get a new lease on life too!

I'm looking forward to hearing about your FTS journey!

Tony
What you do today is what matters!
