I've got to regroup
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:38:16 AM »
Here's what happened.  Last saturday I became sick, with nausea, (another symptom which is TMI), I was hot, and a little sweaty, bad headache.  I thought it was flu and bought pepto bismol tabs, chicken noodle soup, and applesauce, soda crackers on the way to work and went on in to work.  The next day was about the same but a little less sick, but had some added soreness in upper right abdomen, and I think I had a mild gallbladder attack.

Now that i can handle, I've had this before (but long enough ago I forgot about it until I had the upper right ab soreness so thought it was the flu).  The bad thing that happened though was that the noodles , the soda crackers, started up the huge sugar craves again and I have been off plan the last few days.

So, I have to resolve to get back with the program.  So if I don't recommend chicken noodle soup, but instead recommend chicken broth, and just resting the tummy until it gets better.

I've lost and gained this last 4 pounds twice now -- this is getting sort of old -- time to fix this.

I think I need some exercise too....ya think?

Sorry you're not feeling well Liz but it sounds like your re-determined. I make chicken noodle soup with Konjac noodles, it's wonderful. House-Foods brand. Miracle Noodle brand or the ones we buy from http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/

Get better soon!

Sorry that you are struggling right now.  I like egg drop soup:  dribble a beaten egg into boiling chicken broth.  It is as soothing as the noodles in chicken noodle.

Line up all your legal foods so that you know what you are going to eat.  When a craving comes along, distract yourself with something that is low carb and the craving will pass.  It's all in the timing.  The cravings will go away if you don't feed them.

Best of luck.  We are all sitting in your cheering section.

I am feeling much better.  If this should come up again, though I'll be ready with the broth instead of chicken noodle soup, and I'll drizzle the egg in there for the egg drop soup, and add a little minced celery should be good, and no soda crackers, etc., so the crave monster doesn't get a foothold on my plans.

Elizabeth,
My sister is my low carb buddy, too.  She lives 1,100 miles away but with the internet and free long distance, we have managed to stay very close.  It is really fun to have this to share.  There's something very special about sisterhood, biological or otherwise.

Hi Elizabeth! :)

The most important part of any lifestyle change is learning how to prepare oneself for the unexpected.
We do this by learning from our mistakes. And creating plans to avoid those mistsakes in the future.

Now that you now know what to do, that 4 pounds will disappear for good! ;)

You got this, Liz! :) :) :)
What you do today is what matters!
