Ugh. Oficially in Detox. OK, this is weird.
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:24:16 PM »
This has to be detox. I ate dinner, WAS going to go to Zumba, but skipped it becuase I just go SO TIRED. I need to drink some broth too. It was a crappy day today, with the clouds and the work I have to grade before the semester ends. My head doesn't hurt (yet) but my stomach is still a bit icky. I found a great doctor who is a low carb advocate in his practice who explained why we get these symptoms. Based on his explanation, it IS true that low carb HEALS our bodies!  I just need to stick out the detox. I'm bound and determined to do this.

What weird symptoms!

Yup!  That's detox.  Now that you've had to endure it for two days, that's even more incentive to stick it out.  Two days are BEHIND you.  I'll be checking every day for your email telling all of us how great you feel.  It's coming.  I'm certain of it!

Hi Waterlilly! :)

I concur with Andrea... What you're describing is "sugar detox".

When we detox from carbs, drugs, or alcohol, our bodies are biochemically in a stage of revolt.
This is a "revolt" caused by the removal of the addictive substance.

In the midst of our carb addictions, we are damaging our bodies in a number of ways.
Detox is the precursor (or 1st step) our bodies take, healing from that addiction.

During that healing, the pounds of excess stored FAT leaves us.
A healthy biochemical balance is being restored.
And we find ourselves tapping into energy that we did not know we had.

I'm so happy to hear you have a doc who embraces the truth about weight gain.
Having a doctor like that will be very helpful in your FTS journey! :)
What you do today is what matters!

Thanks everyone. That his helpful advice. You know, if I look at this as "healing" instead of "detoxing", I actually feel GOOD about feeling BAD!

I'm also really glad to know that's what these symptoms are about. And yesterday, I ate dinner and then got SO TIRED! My mind was going "what the hell?" but my body was going "just lie down. Liiiieeeeee  down. Need sleep".  Andrea, you're right that I've passed 2 days. I can't wait to see what's on the other side of this!  :)  What a difference perspective makes!

Hey! I just have to share this with everyone. I can't believe it!!!

I was standing at a desk in an office, and a colleague (who dosen't know I"m doing FTS) said to me, "You look thinner. Did you lose some weight?"   WOW!!  I've been on detox for only 3 days now, but I HAVE noticed that I somehow FELT a little thinner. I havn't measured or weighed myself, but I've been just staying the course. But first, I've been FEELING thinner and then the colleague SAYS I look thinner but doesn't know I'm doing this!   ;D Maybe those size 4/6 jeans aren't so far out of reach.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'll bet the detox symptoms are easier to take with unsolicited comments coming your way.  It's common for inches to come off before the scale moves down.

Pat yourself on the back.  You deserve the congratulations.

Wow -- a compliment DURING detox -- I am impressed.  That is so motivating for you also.  Just hang in through detox, it gets better.  Don't give in no matter what, it just prolongs the whole process.  Don't go back to sugar, because at times when I go between Sugar City and FTS, the detox or withdrawals are a little worse each time.

Hang in there Waterlilly -- you are on the right track!

Thanks Andrea and Elizabeth.  :) I appreciate your support. And I'm feeling a little better now except for a few minor things here and there. But, I can see the LIGHT!

I had a horrible time in detox, sick like a dog for a week or more. Best part is on the other side of detox you feel AMAZING and that feeling continues from then on. Congrats on already getting a compliment on looking thinner. Those 4/6 are in your future!
