Hi there -- I weighed in at my TOPS meeting. I had joined last week at beginning weight of 278.4.
My loss today was 4.2 pounds when I weighed in at 274.2.
Some of us lost weight this week, but MORE people had gained, and that confused me a little. They are using the exchange program, and they use the "everything in moderation" approach. They don't say how much they lose or gain, they just say "loss" "gain" or "turtle -- means stay the same" at roll call.
I received a trophy for having lost the most pounds this week. I received another trophy for having lost the most weight in a week since January 1st.
I had checked with the area leader about low carbing it while being in TOPS chapter, and she said that was perfectly fine, and that in fact she was a little interested in it herself.
I figure if i lose continuously and take one or both of these trophies home each week maybe they will have me do a program (members share turns giving programs, etc.) on what I'm doing. I'll bring the FTS book (imagine about 30 ladies revvvvvving up their cars to speed across town to the bookstore....lol But it would be a while before they would probably ask.......I had been told by some very successful LC losers that go to TOPS for accountability to lay low with the LC thing at first until I've been there a bit, that some of the people are sort of entrenched in the "moderation only". I heard a gal say today, "well I can't stop living -- I have to have what I want once in a while or the craving will be too great" (something like that).
Balderdash!
That's what my sugar addictive brain tells me sometimes, but I know that is a lie.
Dang.....how did our poor society become so addicted to sugar? More people, even overweight people trying to lose major pounds, act as if "it's no use fighting it." And with most of the group gaining this week -- and it wasn't even a holiday weekend -- WHAT will happen next week after they have the Mother's Day celebrations this week?
I enjoy the meetings though. They have fun. I have to weigh in somewhere for the accountability. Just knowing I'm going to weigh-in next Thursday morning helps me keep on track.
Well, the weekend is here -- hope you all have a lovely weekend, and a lovely Mother's Day.
Hugs.....Elizabeth (not sure if ticker is updated -- not really sure I'm updating it correctly, but oh well).
