Low Carb Cocktails
« on: May 27, 2012, 11:47:10 AM »
This weekend my cousin made a batch of drinks for us girls to enjoy. It was fun, fruity and I THINK very low to no carb. What are your thoughts guys?

Watermelon Vodka
Strawberry/Watermelon MIO
Water
Ice

It was like sipping a glass of Jolly Rancher candy. It seemed too good to be true, so I approached with caution. Any thoughts or input?

Alcohol is zero carb BUT, it goes into the liver on one side alcohol and comes out the other side a Triglyceride.... Blood Fat, this fat will burn before stored fat. If you're going to have alcohol be sure to cut your carbs to bare bone for the day.

I enjoy a glass of wine or a beer but I plan for it. You really have to read labels though.I love Guiness but its 16 carbs,so I settle for a miller light instead at 2.4 carbs. One glass of red wine is 4 carbs, so if I don't have that to spend I have white wine at 2 carbs.Alot of the flavored alcohols are sweetened so look at ingredient lists on the bottles. Also measure your wine or alcohol just like your veggies. ;)

Nothing beats a shot of Jamerson, on ice.

I haven't tried those myself but I know you can make those mixes yourself using flavorings and such.  Personally I like the diet Coke with lime and a shot of rum and sometimes a glass of wine.  Not very often though  ;)  I have made margaritas with the crystal light mix before that was pretty good.  Just keep in mind that the alcohol will slow you down.  Check these posts out http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?board=6.0

I will only use alcohol when I plan to not lose. I recently lost 2 lbs in 2 days, so trying to slow down because I am trying to lose  my weight slowly, changing my habits, not a quick change.

Hi, Susie! :)

Bob's Pina Colada mix is very good.
I'll even add a few drops of FTS Zero to make it a bit sweeter.  But that's a matter of taste. ;)

Hey, me too! I'm a Wallace (my maiden name). :-) My hair gets flame red if I spend lots of time in the sun. Oh how my skin freckles and burns in too much sun but I love my drinks and heavy foods lol! I like rum though and I'm looking for a way to adapt a Long Island iced tea to low sugar someday...I also love wine. My husband only likes those sugary fruity drinks and he has no interest in changing that. I'm working on figuring out a strawberry margarita recipe without sugar so we can both drink it and not feel too worse for the wear. What he doesn't know won't hurt him. ;-)
