I have learned to enjoy the smells and to stop there. It took a while and some self-talk, but now I don't have to put it in my mouth to enjoy the good smelling food.

Owensmath I do that too and it really works. I also am guilty of feeding people things that look good that I wouldn't dare eat. Somehow I feel better what I do that, I'm sure there is something really wrong with that but it works. :)

It's been awhile since I last was on the message boards and I just wanted to report that I have done all the suggestions given to me and still have not lost ONE SINGLE SOLITARY POUND!!!!! While my AC1 level has dropped to almost normal, I still have not lost any weight. I am EXTREMELY frustrated about this. I'm between a rock and a hard place, because while my blood sugar levels are doing great, I'm not losing any weight. I'm even exercising and NOTHING!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( I started this "life change" in May. Why, why, why am I not losing?

Are your thyroid levels normal?

Hi gkolay! :)

I agree with Andrea. A problem with the thyroid can stop weight loss cold.

So if you've tried, reducing your net carb level to a point less than 20 (maybe 15 or much less), have exercised portion control, have used Doug's "15 Minute Rule", and have avoided sugar alcohols, there MUST be something else going on.

Assuming you've done all these things, there's likely something awry with your metabolism.
Otherwise, you'd be losing weight... The science behind FTS is a solid as the laws of gravity.

You might consider checking in with your doctor and get a full blood panel done to be sure your hormones, enzymes, etc. are within normal range.

Gkolay... you definitely need to see your doctor. *hugs*

Owen and Sherri... I do the same thing. On a vacation outing I was standing outside a gourmet candy shop just deeply inhaling... and I was satisfied with that! lol My cousins teased me that I made sniffing caramel look naughty!  :o

You definitely need to see a doctor. It is science. If you are following the program the weight will come off.The fact that your ;) blood sugar has leveled out is wonderful but you have a issue.

This article (Dr. Michael Eades, a true low carber) may shed some light on your non-weight loss as it applies to your diabetes issues.

Getting enough fat, possibly less protein, plenty of salt, etc.

In case you just read Dr. Eades article in my previous post and miss reading the comments and links referring to the article topics..., this one is quite interesting about checking for mineral, etc. deficiencies.
http://www.psha-inc.com/guai-support/sf/tastetests.htm

I'm going to experiment as I have difficulty keeping magnesium levels normal.  Also thought cramps were from low magnesium, but dehydration makes more sense...since upping magnesium may not always help.  It's probably the big drink of water 10 to 12 ounces that helps the most if I am awakened with cramping feet.

At any rate, for me, taking magnesium and B-complex stops carb cravings instantly.
I personally use Magnesium Asporotate by Solaray.

Hi Ann! :)

Very interesting reading from the good Dr. Eades.
http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/saturated-fat/tips-tricks-for-starting-or-restarting-low-carb-pt-ii/

I especially enjoyed the section about hydration, cramping, and weight loss.
They are linked together.

As I've said many times on this forum, proper hydration (PLAIN water intake) is key to good health and successful weight loss.
It's something many of us do not think much about.
But that does not change how important it is to our bodies.

Thanks for a great article!

Tony
