Breakfast - the most important meal of the day?
« on: July 27, 2012, 09:14:08 PM »
I've restarted work and have had a couple morning shifts needing me to be up and moving at 5.30 am.  The first few times I took some snacks to have at about 10am (break time).  Since FTS, 14 weeks ago,  I usually don't have breakfast until 10.30 -11.30 am, but the other day I thought I would have breakfast before I left - so 5.50am it was.  I tried a slice of low carb toast with PB and a coffee - I couldn't even make a mouthful of it  go down and threw it out, I then tried a 1/2 a crispbread with PB which went the same way as the toast.  I just couldn't make it go down, even the coffee decided to do a tap dance in my stomach on the way to work.

Moral of the story - my body knows when it wants food and not before.

Has anyone else found this out?

YES! I learned that lesson very quickly...only eat when you are truly hungry ;-)

Hi Morgan,
Same thing happened to me. I also wake up at 0500am and have to be in work until 2000 (8pm) we do 13 hour shifts and prior to fts i would try to eat something before going to work because it was never guaranteed when you would get a chance to eat something. ( I work in the intensive care unit as a nurse ) and i had the same thing happen to me, i was ready to puke trying to eat that early in the morning. so now what i do is make my breakfast the night before , which is usually scrambled eggs with spinach or peppers and bacon, put it in a Tupperware bowl and take it to work with me. most of the time i also have found i do not eat until 11 or 12. everyday i say to myself like the Doug says, "steph are you hungry, or just eating "because"? it is pretty cool to now be able to tell the difference between the two.  ;D ;D ;D blessings

Hi Morgan! :)

One of the FTS rules is... Eat ONLY when you are TRULY hungry!

If you force yourself to eat anytime your not hungry, you're asking for trouble!
Two common "troubles" are... Progress stall outs and weight gain!

Like Umpa, my tummy doesn't ring the breakfast bell until 10:30 to 11:00 AM (give or take).
If I don't take care of it within an hour or so, I'll get headaches and an irritated stomach.

Before FTS, I was terrible about listening to my body.
But since I have, my body's health has improved greatly and I feel half my age! ;D

Each of us must LISTEN to our bodies!
It's ESSENTIAL to being successful with FTS for a lifetime to come! 8)

Yep!... I'm thrilled that the scale is confirming what I've been feeling!
That little box is still on the move! ;D

I'll admit there are times I get really busy and forget to eat.
By wife gets on my case when I do... And I love her all the more for it! :)

I've even tried carrying a protein bar in my pocket as a reminder.
But they would melt and become a mess in the Summer heat. :-\
If I could just figure out how to carry bacon and eggs in my pocket. :D :D :D

Who would have thought we would forget to eat?  I'm amazed that sometimes I only eat 2 meals a day instead of the 'required 3 square meals a day'.  lol :D

And hunger feels different than it used to.  I get light headed and CRABBY.  The crabby part is my tip off.  Time to eat then.
