I'm new to FTS, and I'm excited
« on: August 02, 2012, 11:38:20 PM »
I happen to come across this book in B & N today and literally could not put it down. 89 pages later (all read in the store I was blowed away) I have a literal library of different books on how to eat healthy for weight loss, but I have never read anything like this. It absolutely shattered my perception of renegade healthy foods, and the hidden sugar that they contain. I just purchased it on my Nook, and I don't think I'm going to sleep tonight, trying to read it all. Any  suggestions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a newbie? I think this Forum is Phenomenal!! Bless you Sir Doug for composing such a life changing piece of wisdom. :)

Welcome to the FTS family, wawaperry!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

You will find MANY great recipes (many simple) and great ideas by checking posts in the "Recipe Exchange" category on the home page.

Just remember... Since you're just starting out, keep it simple.
Doing this will help you more quickly become an "expert" in the FTS lifestyle.
Plus, you'll be less likely to become frustrated from "information overload" or "over thinking".

You'll find this forum every bit as helpful as Doug's book.
It sustains us throughout our FTS journeys!

We're all right here ready to help (or just listen to) YOU! ;D

Looking forward to hearing more about your FTS journey!

Tony

Welcome to the forum, wawaperry.  I agree with Tony that keeping it simple in the beginning helps you get a foundation to build on.  Don't forget to drink at least 64 ounces of water.  More is even better.

I am new to FTS also - about two months :) and it certainly is an eye opener for me, too.  I now see others in a different light - I check out what they are buying and all I see is sugar sugar sugar and fat people getting fatter.  I have lost 27 pounds so far and am pleased with results.  Ellie

Welcome ereino, momofdws and wawaperry.

While implementing FTS is a big change from the high carb, somewhat low fat eating that I was doing before, it has been made much easier by this forum.  The recipes are great.  I love the philosophy of finding alternatives for the foods we love rather than just depriving ourselves.  It is amazing that you can still eat "bread" and cakes, cookies, and ice cream as part of a low carb lifestyle.  Leave it to FTSers to come up with creative ways to satisfy almost all of our dietary desires.

Mark :D

Welcome fellow noobs! What Tony said!! Keep it simple until you get your bearings. I generally eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. Breakfast is a low carb tortilla, half slice of Colby jack cheese, a scrambled egg and a slice of bacon (I cook bacon ahead and freeze it)... keeps me full for hours! Lunch is usually on the run, smoked turkey rolled up, string cheese and snap peas. Dinner is usually chicken and veggies or a salad. drink lots of water! For sweet cravings, you can't beat the sugar free jello chocolate mousse with sugar free whipped cream (Land o Lakes makes a good one in a spray can). Good luck, know that the first week or two will be rough, you'll do just fine! :)

Welcome to the FTS family, Ellie!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

You're off to a wonderful start! ;D ;D ;D

The FTS lifestyle is like learning to ride a bike.
But once you get comfortable with it, it's as easy as walking!
And you're gonna LOVE how great you'll feel!!!

Actually Tony - learning to ride a bike is not so easy.  My daughter who is now 31 has never mastered it.
She did great on a tricycle and a bicycle with trainer wheels, but when the trainers came off so did she.
Over the years she has continued to try and even her husband who is a great cyclist tried to teach her,
but no go  :(  At this point in time she has just admitted defeat. As a family though we do like to rib her
about being bi-wheel challenged. :D

Hi Morgan! :)

Has your daughter suffered from a condition that would effect her sense of balance?

I have a friend, who as a child, had a severe inner ear infection that went untreated for far too long.
As a result, he can lose his balance quite easily and cannot ride a bike and must avoid climbing ladders.

Without a good sense of balance, bike riding (on two wheels) can be impossible.
