Question About Sugar
« on: August 23, 2012, 07:49:29 PM »
Hi All,

I just finished reading Doug's book and have a question. I like the idea of this way of eating and am willing to make it a life style change, the only thing that bothers me is the fake sugars. I'm just wondering if Agave nectar (which I use already) would be suitable instead of using say splenda, aspartame etc?

No.  Agave is a sugar.  There are natural sweeteners like stevia and xylitol that you can incorporate into your food plans.

Welcome to the forum, cindle.  There's lots of expertise here and we're happy to answer questions.

I agree with you about artificial sugars.Zero is the best choice. You cannot detox on agave, its too high in carbs.Welcome to the forum Cindle.I am Umpa ,Dougs wife If I can help you please ask.We developed Zero because people were having tummy issues with sweeteners. I have a column on the homepage called ask umpa where I can convert your favorite foods to fat to skinny friendly. ;)

Welcome to the FTS family, cindle!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

Never assume anything when it comes to prepackaged foods.

ALWAYS read the nutrition labels very carefully INCLUDING the ingredients lists.
Since the FDA is lax about carb reporting, the ingredients lists will give you good clues about what you're really eating.
If one of the first three ingredients of a product is high in carbs, I won't buy it!

Looking forward to hearing about your FTS journey! :)
