Super basic menu
« on: August 31, 2012, 09:34:15 AM »
Hi! I'm finding I have a basic successful menu of what I can eat & still lose. I stick to it nearly everyday.

Coffee
2 or 3 eggs made into egg salad
2 carbsmart fudge bars
Chicken or steak with steamed mixed veggies

What is your super basic menu that works for daily weight loss??? :-)

Hi Thinisin! :)

Looks good to me! :) :) :)

Just be careful of mixed veggies.
Some have carrot and/or corn which are both high carb.

As always, read nutrition labels CAREFULLY! :o

Hi Thinisin! :)

It varies a great deal from day to day depending on how much time I have for prep, or how much energy I have left after working around our property.

Most days I'm quite busy, so the fare usually very simple.
I often start with eggs (fried or boiled), or yogurt, and cheese or turkey breakfast sausage links, and sometimes a low carb tortilla on the side.

For dinner, depending on how much time I have for prep, or how tired I am, I might keep it simple and make rib eye steak, fish, chicken with sliced Roma tomato & mayo as a side or half an avocado with mayo & paprika, or simple green salad with vinaigrette.

Other nights, I might make some fancier recipes (most of which you'll find on this forum) or leftovers.

So do you eat egg salad for lunch? What about breakfast? Where did you buy carbsmart fudge bars?

We eat brunch at 11:00 .Then we have a snack at 4 :00 .Then supper at 6:00-6:30. I have a short attention span so the menu changes everyday. We eat fresh.Fresh meats, fish and veggies.Lots of tofu and yam root pastas.Eggs are also a staple ;)

I have coffee, egg salad when I get hungry. It has been about 4 hours after waking up :) I bought the ice fudge bars at the grocery store; HEB stores to be exact :)

I think finding what works well for you and sticking to it is key. My daily menu is pretty boring....I do a OMM pancake for breakfast (with two and a half cups of black coffee), then an egg and low carb tortilla for lunch. At dinner, I'll just go with whatever protein I'm fixing for the family and a small dish of cooked veggies or salad. If they're eating something I can't eat, I'll get creative. But sticking to the same thing for breakfast and lunch has worked really well for me and totally satisfies my hunger. It also takes away the question of "what do I want to eat for lunch" and the subsequent pining over things I CANT have! LOL.

Same here! I like not having a guessing game of how many carbs I ate. I know what's in my favorites, so I stick to that for breakfast & lunch :)

Hi Thinisin! :)

You should never purposely have to guess how many carbs you've eaten.

To avoid this, write down everything you eat BEFORE you eat it.
That way, you'll never have to wonder if you've exceeded 20 net carbs.

As time goes by, you'll remember how many carbs the foods you usually eat contain.
It really does become second nature and VERY easy! :)

I think it's important for each of us to figure out how to make FTS work for us.  I also think it's important to figure out how to add variety and switch things up because I know that I don't want to eat the same thing for the rest of my life and can't imagine that anyone else does, either.  I think that learning how to vary things within the FTS framework is an important step in changing your DIET into a LIFESTYLE.
