Smuckers sugar free jam
« on: October 09, 2012, 02:53:36 PM »
Hey guys,

I realize that this probably isn't, truly, carb free. Can anyone give me an idea of how much carbs would be in a TBSP of this stuff? The ingredients are on the right side....it says zero sugar (but three net carbs, I think?)....but I have a hard time believing that. I'm slowly, slowing adding sweetened stuff back in to my diet and I found some wonderful very low carb seed crackers and was going to have a couple with some goat cheese and a bit of jam but want to be sure not to overdo it.

Hi Alicia! :)

One average apricot has a bit over 3 net carbs all by itself.

With the addition of the filler maltodexterin (which has carbs), I would be a bit wary.

So use with caution.
If you notice your progress stopping or slowing, then this should be one of the first things to go.

But I suspect that "a little dab'll do ya" in which case you'll be fine.  Doug recently posted a jam recipe.  With this you'd know the carb content for sure but it's not as convenient as putting a jar into your grocery cart.

Well according to the label, 3 net carbs. I like the Fifty50 fruit spreads myself :)

I've read that here before, Doug, but didn't see them at the store I was at yesterday. Will have to keep an eye out!

Yes, Andrea, a little dab will definitely do, since it's just going to be to add a sweet touch to the goat cheese. It's a treat, for sure, I won't be overdoing it...but I'm setting them out for friends and I may let myself have one or two crackers. :)
