Sometimes a low carb eating plan can cause an unusual taste in your mouth and halitosis.
Quote
When you are on a low-carbohydrate/high-protein diet, the goal is to create a condition called ketosis, which is the breakdown of fat into ketones. Once the ketones get into your urine and saliva, it can cause a metallic taste and bad breath to form. The process of ketosis tends to be diuretic in nature and, therefore, creates a greater risk for dehydration. Dehydration lowers saliva production which can lead to an increase in the bacterial growth responsible for bad breath.

Actually this means that you are probably burning fat like crazy  ;D  Drinking more water will help a lot.  Also chewing gum works for me.

For sure if you feel it is more than that you should talk with your doctor to be sure nothing more is going on....this is my best guess though  ;)

It's also worth mentioning that this type of ketosis is different from the dangerous type that can spell big trouble for diabetics.  It is important to know that because it can come up in discussions with others who only know about the dangerous kind.  Also, if you have routine blood tests that measure ketone levels, you will likely have results that are high.  If you tell the doctor/practitioner that you eat a low carb diet, they know that it isn't a problem.

Isn't feeling good a fabulous thing?
