Scott in Florida - Oct 3 + 7 weeks
« on: November 21, 2012, 06:44:44 AM »
Down 1 pound this week, which is fine.  Any progress is good.

Thanksgiving morning I'll be running the Turkey Trot 10k here in Clearwater.  It's a Thanksgiving tradition for something like 37 years here.  Last time I ran it was sometime back in the early 80s, which seems like a lifetime ago.  Should be fun!  Last year's race:  http://youtu.be/5K3GmVHLD-Q

I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!  Don't eat anything that doesn't help you toward your goal!

Scott

Great goal Stephanie!  Are you running currently?  When do you think you might do this?  My first half marathon is coming up in February.

That is exactly how I started!  I couldn't run for about 20 years.  2 years ago I started out by jogging for about 2 minutes because that is as much as I could do.  It helps that I actually enjoy it; I know some people really hate running.  One of my favorite sayings is "My sport is your sport's punishment"  :)

If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend the book Born to Run.  It was a big part of my being able to start running again as well.

Omgosh I used to run every day back when the babies were little... I would put em in the runner stroller and drag my sister with me to watch them so i could run a little longer.. lol Now I can run a fever without feelin like Im gonna keel over! I am going to read that book Scott suggested .. it sounds really good... Umpa are you a runner or do you like the alyptical better??? I played allot of Volley ball in High School.. wondering aside from walking what you guys have found fun to do for exercise at this part of the newbee journey? I am hiking and I always love that.
