Great Thanksgiving morning
« on: November 22, 2012, 01:32:01 PM »
I am feeling so good this morning I just had to post something here.

I got up early this morning and ran a 10k race (6.2 miles).  It's the annual Times Turkey Trot here in Clearwater, Florida.  Probably about 15,000 other people ran it too.  It's very popular I think because most people have the day off work today so are free to run it, and it is also very cheap ($15 is really cheap for a 10k).

It was a gorgeous morning - about 55 degrees and sunny.  I ran the race at a little faster pace than I expected to, and I felt great the whole way.  I actually even lost a pound during the race!

This afternoon we are all getting together at my parent's house for good food and football (I suspect I might find that pound I lost!).  It's a wonderful day to reflect on how blessed we are and to remember to be thankful for family, friends, health and so many things that a lot of the world does not have.

I took this picture during the race - this soldier did the whole race wearing his uniform including boots, and while carrying a full size flag and a 45-pound backpack.
