bacon and cheese crustless quiche

5 eggs - 3.0 net carbs
heavy cream - 0 net carbs
10 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled o net carbs
1 cup parm cheese 0 net carbs
2 cups shredded chedder cheese 8 net carbs

total carbs 11
we cut into 4 hefty size pieces = 2.75 per slice

beat eggs and mix in heavy cream , i did not measure but say about 1/2 cup or little more

in seperate bowl mixed 2 cups of shredded chedder cheese and parm cheese with crumbled bacon pour into glass dish and then pour egg mixture over top of it. cook at 400 for 10 mints then at 350 for additional 35 or until center is done and cooked.

this is going to be a weekend must for us , it was so good!

  are you using prepackaged cheese?  If you are....they use potato starch to keep them from sticking together...this could cause you to stall.  Shred your own if you can for 0 net carbs  ;)

it is prepackaged from walmart or sometimes target or shoprite. it listed 1/4 cup for 1 carp. the total bag was 8 servings so i counted 8 net carbs...? so are you saying the potato starch makes it more carbs or acts like "sugar alcohols" when stalling weight ? i understand potato starch is not on our lifestyle obviously :)

Hi Steph! :)

As you know from Doug's book, to our bodies, starch is just another form of "sugar".
Carbs will slow weight loss, regardless of source.

But, sugar alcohols may or may not. That depends on one's personal chemistry.
That's why Doug could drink up to 4 diet sodas a day and still lose weight.
While someone else could experience a stall out.

By using 0 carb block cheeses and shredding them yourself, you're assured you're getting 0 carbs.

Well put Tony :) thank you. Here is another question for you ladies and gents. If they use potatoe starch to keep it from sticking together don't they have to put it on the ingredient list? I wouldn't be surprised if you all said no considering all the misleading labels out there already. What kind of cheese to you guys buy and from where? Now another question isn't it true that one ounce of cheese is 1 net carb reguardless ? I know I am getting "crazy" now with all this stuff...stalling out has made me into a monster lol

Don't make yourself crazy with overthinking details. ;)

I know it's hard to relax when feeling frustration.
But please try!... Stress can slow weight loss. And frustration causes stress.

Not every cheese will have carbs.

An ingredient label can say "0 Carbs" when there is less than 0.5 grams of carbs per reported serving.
That's the FDA rule for carb reporting.

But, the FDA is more strict about reporting ingredients.
This is to help people with certain allergies (and other sensitivities) avoid problem foods.

So if the label says 0 and does not show any carby ingredients, it's zero.
Most quality block cheeses are 0 carb.

I want to give you a big HUG!!!!!!!!! you are so kind and patient !!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to check the package as soon as i get home about the starch in the cheese. i do know that there are slices of paper in between the cheese i buy i thought that was suppose to be so they did not stick together and as far as the shredded cheese i am going to investigate it ;)

Hi Stephanie  :)  it looks like Tony has you on the right path.  As always he is right on target.   I buy my cheese mostly at Walmart too.  I especially like the slice cheddar and pepper jack with the paper between the slices.  I think it is the Walmart brand?  To shred it myself though I go for a big blocks.  Extra sharp cheddar is so good  ;D

 It is the starch that is creating the carbs in the pre sheds.  That stuff will add up pretty quickly especially if you aren't exact with your measures.  A little here a little there...next thing you know you have carb creep.  If you do keep them exact though you still have those extra carbs you could have trimmed away.  I'm pretty stingy with my carbs...LOL   By using the big block cheese; not only does it taste way better, you know it is 0 carbs.  Plus you get the benefit of a workout shredding   ;D ;D

Toosweet wouldn't you know it! Potatoe starch in the shredded cheese! I really only use it for the brocolli soup I make but still! Ugh! I will be shredding my own and cutting my own now :) the prepackage with paper in between was safe though!

Your total carb count just went down to 3 carbs
and a grand total of .75 net carbs per hefty size piece    ;)
