Starving Cancer: Ketogenic Diet a Key to Recovery
« on: December 13, 2012, 06:31:37 PM »
Hi Gang! :)

This morning, more wonderful news about how living a low carb lifestyle can make you healthier.

The same TV show that introduced Doug and FTS to me, just aired a segment about how a low carb lifestyle can kill and/or prevent cancer! :o :o :o

http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/healthscience/2012/December/Starving-Cancer-Ketogenic-Diet-a-Key-to-Recovery/

Interestingly, there is also some discussion about how arterial inflammation from high blood glucose is the cause of heart disease. This was also discussed in another post I made here last March:

http://www.fattoskinny.net/index.php?topic=4164.msg41159#msg41159

Looks like the medical community is catching up to the truth about carbs.

It's exciting to see it come to light finally  ;D ;D  Thanks for sharing that Tony!

I was watching Dr Oz the other day where he had two doctors (Dr. Sinatra that is in your post  ;) )that claim we (the medical community) have been all wrong about cholesterol too.  Imagine that!!   :o :o  LOL  It was pretty interesting to say the least. Here is the link for the first segment.  You'll find the 2nd on the same page.  http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/everything-you-know-about-cholesterol-wrong-pt-1    Here is another link where Dr. Sinatra talks about it....  http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/healthscience/2012/October/Cholesterol-Myth-What-Really-Causes-Heart-Disease/

No doubt Tony, I reported 5 years ago that sugar is "fertilizer for cancer" There's simply NOTHING good about sugar!  8)

I agree, Doug! :)

Sugar should be classified as a toxin and not allowed in food!
That may also be the case with starches (also a high carb source) as well.

BTW, I posted a comment on the CBN site on this story and referred the readers to fattoskinny.com.
Hopefully, that will help more folks find our solution! ;)

The article was enlightening - I had breast cancel 4 years ago - Just another reason to stay off of the sugars - I didn't realize that cancer cells fed off of sugar - such a scary thing to envision - Now when I look at our society, and see the many big people, I feel a pang of sorrow for them.  AND, the thing is, many do not want to even try to understand the simple solution as their habits get in the way of a healthy life.  Thanks, Tony, for the really good read.

That makes sense. When my brother was battling brain cancer they tried an experimental procedure for targeted chemo by giving him insulin to drop his blood sugar (they watched him closely, a dr did this) then when his BS was low enough they gave him an injection of sugar-laced chemotherapy because they said cancer cells love sugar and will draw the sugar into it quickly which means he could have a lower dosage of chemo. It wasn't covered by insurance though.

There's no question that sugar feeds cancer cells. I discovered Dr. David Servan-Schreiber's work several years ago. His work proved without any doubt that sugar is a major cause of cancer cell growth....one more BIG reason to keep those carbs out of your mouth  :o

No doubt about it and with my tests recently all coming back as "perfect" (that is what my dr said, verbatim!) and such vast improvement over last year's tests he said no ones body is perfect but your tests seems to think yours is lol. It didn't help me figure out my swelling issue but it was an ego boost and made me worry less about becoming a cancer victim. Keeping sugar out of my life has been invaluable for my health! My dr might even be convinced that my diet is best because he said whatever you're doing, keep doing it. It's working! :D (I did tell him that I try to keep to a ketogenic diet to avoid getting brain cancer like my brother).

Thanks for the information! I'm hoping to use food to "heal" my body. So far, I am seeing results in my blood tests, but I do not know if it is from my eating plan, the chemo, or the combination of both.

Hi, bdiane! :)

I welcomed you to our forum family and this link in your first posting here.

Living the FTS lifestyle really does heal our bodies!

I used to have serious Metabolic Syndrome (High BP, High BS, lousy cholesterol, high triglycerides, etc.).
I was taking FIVE different prescriptions to manage it.
Thanks to FTS, my doc took me off ALL of them!!!
I'm 62 and my health (and energy level) is much like it was when I was 30! ;D ;D ;D

So stick with it, bdiane!... The rewards are incredible! ;)
