Valentine's Day

Hello all - the 'love day' is coming up and I was wondering if anyone had anything special planned.  Any special recipes you are willing to share.

In previous years I would bake heart-shaped sugar biscuits to take with me on my rounds (when I was doing home care) to hand out to my clients (and also for my kids and friends).  A lot of them (clients not kids) lived alone and didn't see anyone.

hmm - wonder if umpadoodles can be rolled and cut into hearts.  (Put the cinnamon on the inside and press pink coloured xylitol on the outside).

Have made heart-shaped cake before.  I'm sure I've seen heart-shaped silicone cupcake pans, but now when want one, probably wont find any.

You could do heart shaped scones or even the sugar cookies recipe here on the forum.  There are heart shaped pans and cookie cutters all over the place in the shops here.   I made up some colored xylitol this last Christmas and replaced it in my containers of regular sugar sprinkles.  You can't even tell the difference if you didn't already know other than the cooling on the tongue ....haha   you could do heart shaped cupcakes too    

I plan to serve a salad with heart shaped hard boiled eggs for lunch or maybe dinner that day.  Here is a link to show you how to do that: http://www.annathered.com/2010/09/29/how-to-make-a-heart-shaped-egg/  It says to use a milk or juice carton but any kind of card stock material will work.  It just needs to be strong enough to keep the egg from pushing it out.  I just might make my eggs this way from now on.....too cute!!

I found some sugar free valentines day candy at walmart the other day. They even have had the sweethearts that are sugar free for those of us "baking challenged" peeps.

You know Umpa...they do! I was looking for some the other day for my son. With SF candy I always look ahead of time for holidays. Candy crate has them, little pricy but they have them.

We know and understand the health dangers of sugar.
And it really irks me how so many companies charge so much for their sugar free products.

If regular peeps cost $2.44 for only 3 ($0.81 each), I don't think they would have become so popular.
Which, on second thought, may not have been a bad idea.
