What a great Day!
« on: April 02, 2013, 07:59:23 PM »
Went to my food bank. We sit in camp chairs and socialize until the food is ready to distribute. We go through a line and select what we want and pay $20 for quite a bit of food. I go there weekly.

Usually someone passes around sugar & high carb food that I've been refusing, but today someone offered avocado, sliced egg & pieces of fresh asparagus. My spring green salad was so delicious! All I added to it was tomatoes(it's all I had in fridge) and my Ranch salad dressing made with almond milk.

I got several regular eggplant, japanese eggplant, zucchini, squash, red bell pepper, mini bell pepper, bag of salad baby greens, green beans, oranges, strawberries, grapes, grapples (apples), a meyer lemon & bag of almonds.

I got a lot of carb foods- dinner kits, frozen carb foods, power bars and cookies & bread- giving that away to my carb eating ex husband and my disabled brother.

AND ALSO GOT: 3 very very pretty new scarves w/ tags. I am giving them to my daughter for her birthday on the 23rd this month!!! Doing happy dance.. got her gifts.....hehehe

I live in Southern California in Redlands. I love hearing the birds outside while on my computer.I close my eyes and soak it in.

Umpa, that's great, she searches on youtube and google images for ideas

Hi, Susie! :)

I was born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Fernando Valley.
Left in January 1976 for Western Washington state.
Been here ever since and love it!

Redlands is just West of the San Bernardino National Forest.
I used to go up into the forest (Big Bear Lake) in the Summer to camp and fish.
I would also venture the woods and fish the creeks.

I trust the area is not getting very overpopulated like the LA area.
That's what drove me out of there over 35 years ago!

It's doubled in population but still a quaint town. We having a budding brewery called Hangar 24, and a world wide ERSI company and the Redlands Bicycle Classic that is also world known. The Kimberly-Clark mansion is in our town as well.
We still have a downtown promenade of small stores. Our Farmer's Market is there every Thursday night.

Hi Susie! :)

That's cool!
It sounds like Redlands has maintained it's "small town" flavor.

I remember stopping by the Farmers' Market several times on the way back home to LA.
I also remember how great the produce tasted!... But most of it, I will no longer partake.  ;)

Redlands Bicycle Classic is going on right now. I'd love to watch it but Mary wants me home with her. Besides, I cook, she doesn't. This homeschooler receives 3 hot meals daily. Sometimes we eat 2 meals & a couple snacks. This helps our food budget stretch further.
Made Pancake Puffs today. Used the "Jenny's Better Than Boxed Low Carb Pancakes" recipe I got off here. Used Soy Protein.

I'm going to make her dinner. Steak, cauliflower mashed "potatoes", gravy, broccoli. Low carb chocolate cake. In her picture she's wearing a FOREVER 21 dress I bought her for onLy $2.99 and her grandmother's shoes.
