Thanks! Now I've been bouncing up and down about 2 lbs (plus my monthly friend was especially evil this time around and I put on 5 lbs from that which went back down later but I see no progress scale-wise that week) and now I've been sick and have had other problems so I went to the doctor to help sort that out. I wrote a new topic on that. I'm sitting about 2lbs up right now...probably fluid again. :( I haven't done much exercise this week either but last week I ran twice (30 mins each) and then Fri was up and down a ladder at work for about 6 hrs so I was super sore and swollen up from that. I'm hoping all of that gets resolved soon. I was worried I'd done something to hurt my foot because it swelled up so bad and I was a little scared. I iced it and it didn't help. It was my arch that ached but the top of my foot swelled up. But then again my ankles are always swollen...but I explain that in the new topic. :( I'm persevering!

True, I can vouch for that! I used to be able to listen to my body and eat whatever I wanted and not gain but those days are over and now I have a deranged metabolism. But I always wondered why my appetite changed so much when I first gained weight. I could eat beyond being full and I could never do that before. Now my appetite is much more tuned back in like when I was thin. That's the exciting part!!

One thing we don't talk about much is how going on and off diets over time, will mess up our metabolisms.
It's because our metabolic systems strive to maintain a steady balance.

Our metabolisms are controlled by the hypothalamus.
The hypothalamus is responsible for maintaining homeostatis (constant environment) within the body.
It secretes various hormones which control the release of hormones produced by the pituitary.
The hormones of the pituitary then control the hormones produced by organs of the body (including those for glucose management).
But when we go on and off diets, the hypothalamus gets "biochemically confused".

Over time, I noticed that my metabolism seems to have stabilized.
Given enough time living the FTS lifestyle, yours may too! ;D

Now if I could just lose my "senior moments", I'd be a really happy camper! :) :) :)

That's very interesting, Tony! Thank you. :)

I have noticed that if I have a rather high fat meal (or drink) to start my day that I eat less all day. I've been doing that lately and my clothes are looser this week. Hmmm...can't complain! :)

I just wanted to pop in and update on my progress:

I've lost 10 lbs now and an inch plus on my measurements! Yay! I'm a size down. I want to lose about 3 more inches on my waist/hips and that's about two more sizes to be where I want to be size wise. Very exciting! :) Thank you again for this awesome program!

I probably don't eat as often or as much as I should because I normally have just coffee for breakfast and some days I try to have two hard boiled eggs and a couple pieces of bacon or sausages if I have time to grab them. Lunch is really light (bun-less burger and small salad) but I usually have a somewhat bigger dinner. It seems to work well for me and I haven't been hungry or had the need to snack or (over)eat at night. I feel like I'm sort of in the groove and it feels great - like I finally have a formula for success! :)
