Labelling Traumas
« on: June 18, 2013, 08:38:32 AM »
Nutritional labels are driving me absolutely barmy, I need to vent.   In Australia our labels show values for serving sizes and a standard 100g/100ml values so we can compare with other products on the same footing.  Which is really good.
The inconsistency is that some labels already have the fibre taken off the carbs - it being obvious in that the fibre stated is way more than the carbs shown, but not on all labels.  I think in the States you  have 'Net Carbs' written, we don't.  It's just that some of the time I don't know whether to take the fibre off the carbs or not.  Grrrrrrrrrr

We have the same problem here.I have went as far as to contact companies for the "real" carb counts. I look at carb count then ingredient lists. Then if I can't figure it out I call. I am very stubborn :D

I have been experiencing the same thing so I'm with you guys. Going to whole foods and all their labels are different for the same item found in another place >:(

Yes if enough people complain they will change. I actually had to contact Hersheys chocolates and tell them their carb count was wrong, they forgot to subtract the fiber.Their product was a lot lower than they knew. They were very happy ;)
