Mazel tov Morgan for your new job as moderator. We are all happy and blessed by you and how you treat everyone here. I remember how candid and happy you were to welcome me when I was a Newby lol.
About your ten weeks stall,  do as you plan but tony and doug are right about you gaining some muscles might have made the scale look the same in reading to you so keep positive ok? ;);D8)

Well I did the 14 days of no sweets, treats, baked goods - the scale moved 3lbs.  With all the giving up I did, I would have thought it would have been more.  I'm wondering if the SA were actually at fault with my stall or whether it is something else.  I thought I might do a week of exercising daily (as in walking - out or treadmill) or a week without dairy perhaps.  The exercise part is a bit hard when doing nightshift as after I wake up it takes me a few hours to get motivated and then I off to work again.  Nevertheless, I will see what I can do.

Maybe you're right on the sugar alcohols, maybe you triggered your body enough to kick in...I'll tell from my experience with the first time around, I did that once, I took out all sweet and sugar alcohol and did only 10 carbs and I lost a few, but when I went back to 20, the few I lost came back for a couple days...but then it started melting off again, just a warning in case the you see the scale pop back up, in my experience it comes right back down. You hang in there...I betcha you'll find a trigger.
May you be blessed in all your endeavors, but most importantly, may you be humble. God keep you.

Great advice Taby! I have to agree with you on that as I have also experienced the same event with the sugar alcohols and how much consumed.

I've been having a think. Maybe lack of SAs weren't the reason  my weight moved (as I don't really have that many) dropping to 10 carbs daily might have done the trick.

Hi Morgan, dropping to ten carbs per day absolutely put your body into Ketosis (burning fat cells for fuel) and I bet you didn't find it to difficult  ::) I' can stay under 10 net carbs every day with ease. Did dropping the SA's also have an effect? Only one way to find out...stay under 10 net carbs and add some SA's back into your life (if you want them) and see what happens. If you stall again drop them. Congratulations on breaking your stall and dropping those 3 pounds!  8)

Congrats on losing those 3 pounds, Morgan! :) :) :) :) :)

If you start exercising, be aware that the scale might mislead you for while.
That's because as we lose weight and exercise, our bodies will take on fluids to replace the fat that was burned.

Those fluids (mainly water) are heavier than fat.
And so is the muscle gained through exercise. ;)

6 month stall?
« Reply #25 on: May 09, 2014, 03:38:21 PM »
Morgan:

I saw your thread about the 10 week stall you had last June.  You mentioned trying a few 10 carb days.  Would you mind sharing your daily menu.  I've lost 90 pounds then completely stalled for the last 6 MONTHS.  I joined FTS a couple of weeks ago and would love some advice.

Thanks,

madoctor

PS the only reason I started a new thread was because of the following message I saw when posting.

Hi madoctor - you have done brilliantly losing all that weight.   I had to check my notes as to what I had eaten - I tracked everything.

For example -
I usually had 100g bacon (1.2c), 1 egg (0.7c)and mayo (0.1c) for first meal (whatever the time may have been) = 2c
Snack was usually 30g brazil nuts 0.2c/cheese 0c
Coffee during day made with 2tbls cream 0.6c
Some roast chicken 0c
Zucchini/broccoli/capsicum/spinach mix 2c
bbq (sf) 1c
Strawberries 4c

Total of 9.8c

Another day - 2 egg omelette/cheese/ham/tomato/fetta 2.9c
coffee 0.6c

zucchini/broc 2c
chicken wings with bbq (sf) sauce 1.c

cheese kransky grilled 0c

snack of some cheese 0c/brazil nuts 0.2c/boiled egg 0.7c (I was on nightshift)
coffee with cream x 2 1.2c
Total of 8.8c

Another - bacon/egg/mayo/cheese - 2.1c

meatballs x 4 1.6c
cauli mash 3.0

chicken wings with butter and sf BBQ sce - 1c

snack of - brazil nuts/cheese 0.2c
coffee with cream 0.6c

Total of 8.5c

At that stage I had given up all sugar alcohols (only sweetner was in sf bbq sauce), flax, almond flour and all sweet stuff including soft drinks (diet).

Continue the good work madoctor.  And PS - welcome  :D

Thanks Morgan.  That was brilliant.  Gives me a great starting point.  I have to and WILL break this stall, it is driving me batty >:(.

I know I can do less than 10 carbs a day just needed a good starting point, so THANK YOU again.

All of you are so welcoming here.  I'm loving it!
