Week Four
« on: June 21, 2010, 02:16:31 PM »

I've had the book for 4 weeks.  I was very excited to get started. I started losing immediately.  The book says lose 8 lbs in a week. It is now 4 weeks and I've only lost 6. I keep fluctuating. I started at 161. I went down to 153 at one point and 2 days later I'm back at 155. I've only lost 6 in 4 weeks. What I don't understand is that I've eaten all the wrong things all my life and now I'm down to less than 20 carbs a day and I'm still having trouble losing. My job requires me to constantly be walking. I go to the gym twice a week.  With all this activity, I would think I would lose with the little carbs I'm allowing myself. I understand about plateaus.  I'm going to continue because I really want this.
I do have a question for anyone who may be able to answer this.
Why such little weight loss with such a big cut back on sugar?  I use to eat breads, muffins, sugar in my iced tea, which I drank all day long. Yet now I have only 20 carbs a day and it's not coming off easily.
Also, once the weight loss is gone, do I introduce carbs back into my diet and just monitor how much is allowed or am I suppose to stick to 20 carbs forever and only eat protein the rest of my life? I couldn't find an answer to that in the book.                                          Thanks everyone.

Lori ;)
Doug's going to ask you to post a list of what you are eating.... or even more exactly, everything that has passed thru your lips..lol odds are something you are consuming is interfering with your weight loss, or possibly you are staying within the carb guidelines, but over eating low carb foods.... and he does address the issue about putting more carbs into your life after you reach your goal weight in the book, the 20 carbs per day is what Doug uses to maintain his weight,he suggests in the book that you gradually reintroduce carbs back into your diet, and closely monitor your weight as you do so,till you find the point that lets you maintain your weight ;D the info for maintaining your weight is on page 62-63 of the book :D keep the faith !!!!

Thanks so much. After reading some other posts, I realized that I am adding some carbs in small amounts. If I put something into my mouth that only has 1 carb, I assume it's o.k. But, the do add up and I'm really scrutinizing  everything now. Thanks for letting me know what I missed in the book also. I guess I have to go over it again.
Also:
How do I get my weight loss meter to show under my posts?
