My birthday dinner - broiled lobster tail
« on: March 14, 2014, 07:41:42 PM »
I have the best husband because he supports me unconditionally.  He made us broiled lobster tails for my birthday dinner!

There are so many recipes out there and this was the one he used.  I think it came from AllRecipes.  We also have a passed down family recipe we use that uses salt and garlic instead of paprika and pepper.

2 whole lobster tails

1/2 cup butter melted

1/2 tsp paprika

Salt to taste

Pepper (white or black) to taste

Preheat the broiler.  Place lobster tails on baking sheet.  With sharp kitchen scissors, cut the top side of the shells lengthwise.  Pull apart shells slightly and season with equal amounts of butter and seasonings.  (You can swap seasonings for your favorites)

Broil tails until lightly browned and until the meat is opaque, about 5 - 10 minutes.

Garnish with lemon if desired.  We skipped the lemon and just had clarified butter on the side.

Happy Birthday, Sunshine!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lobster is one of my top 3 favorite sea foods.
I'll eat it any way I can get it. ;)
But my favorites are steamed or broiled with a side of clarified butter with garlic.

Yummo....haven't had lobster in years. The cost is a bit prohibitive at about $40/kg.   :(

Hi Sunshine - I'm not in the States.  I'm in Australia.  Even if you go the the sea ports you cannot buy fresh usually as they are already sold to the big companies.   :(

You guys are too kind - it was a great birthday / 1 year away from  40, my goal is to be where I'm comfortable in my own skin by then!  Getting there with all the great support here!
