Milk Question
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:12:42 PM »

Could you take a 1/4 glass of heavy cream add the ice cold water and mix.  ;D Might that take care of your milk fix I think it's very close to the same thing. Just 0g of carbs.
And if I claim to be a wise man. It surely means that I don't know... Kansas

:D Can't wait to see Doug's reply to this one!
After 3 weeks without milk, I might have to run out and buy some heavy whipping cream  :-\
I'm craving an ice cold glass of milk....

Heavy cream tastes pretty good. I would add a sweet N low packet to it!

I just miss my skim milk!  I have never heard of hood milk and I have looked at almond and soy milk at the store but have never tried it yet.  I was waiting on an answer from Doug or you about the heavy cream and adding water/splenda to make a low carb milk ??  Just curious about another option for milk.  Thanks and have a great day!

Hi Susie, I don't ever want you to feel deprived, that leads to binging on things we know will hurt us. Milk has carbs, check your labels. You're allowed 20 or less per day so have a glass of milk and spend your carbs there instead of somewhere else...simple really.

:D well i just had my 1st glass of almond milk....i went with the unsweetened/vanilla version...mmmmmm......and i have to say it was great...much like all the other substitute foods that i have been eating now(that i never would of touched before) it was just as good....or I'd say even better than REAL milk!!  I tend to think that the reason these NEW foods are so freaking tasteful to me is because I've gone without the "poisoned" version for so long, but it could be that they always were this good & i just wouldn't give them a chance, either way bottom line is the NEW foods are the ones I'll be eating for the rest of my life....so it's a good thing i like them ;)

Last night I bought the heavy whipping cream AND Almond Breeze Milk by Blue Diamond (unsweetened/vanilla).  The almond milk is not as "white" as skim milk, but was satisfying plus I put ice cubes in the glass to make it really cold.  This morning I was in a hurry and added carb free hershey chocolate syrup (1 T.) and ice cubes for a quick chocolate drink -- it was great!  Last night I put 1 T. whipping cream in a 8 oz. glass, filled it 2/3 full and then added ice cubes.  It was ok.  After making a side by side comparision of skim milk, almond milk-unsweetened and whipping cream, my VOTE is the almond milk for the taste, nutrition value and 1 carb for 8 oz.
Let me know what you think!  Have a great day!
