Hi, Sunshine! :)

Cortisol is a stress hormone.
When we're under stress, our bodies produce copious amounts of it.
And when under stress, our bodies go into "survival mode" and fat burning all but stops.

Day to day stress is a psychological response to negative stimuli from our environment.
The best option is to remove the source(s).
But if that is not possible, we can manage our stress and, thereby, our cortisol levels.

Like Umpa said, get plenty of rest.
Some regular moderate exercise, like brisk walks, help a lot!

BTW, I love your picture, too! :)

I stumbled upon 180Degree Health where the blogger/author wrote a piece that  low carb diets put stress on the body raising cortisol and adrenal functions.  How would I answer that if I was ever asked?

Answer it with your weight loss numbers! :) Sunshine, the only way to get the flat belly you're looking for is ith lots of hard work in the gym. Cardio and sit ups.....  8)

Doing it all, promise!!!  I wasn't looking for another route or other answers but this article was really criticizing low carb and sometimes I just want to know how to respond when/if time comes and this type of conversation takes place.  Hope that makes sense ;)

Hi, Sunshine! :)

This blogger/author does not know what s/he is talking about! :-\

You can remind this blogger that digestible carbohydrates cause highly elevated and sustained blood sugar (glucose) levels.
Over time, those levels cause type II diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, elevated blood triglycerides, and fouled up blood cholesterol.

By eating low carb, our adrenals will put out a bit more adrenaline and cortisol.
The increased levels are well within healthy limits.
Cortisol helps our bodies use sugar (glucose) and fat for energy (metabolism), PLUS it helps the body manage stress.
