Tonight Was Hard
« on: July 16, 2014, 09:04:12 PM »
Hey guys:) for some reason tonight was especially hard. I've noticed at night, a couple hours before bedtime, I wanted carbs! Not even sweets, just carbs! lol...you know extra large pizza, it didn't matter:) but rest assured, I did not cave. I may have bent a little on wanting it, but I stood my grounds. Lol...it's always before bed while watching tv. Or even cleaning in the evening, you know how the mind wanders? But I'm currious? Why does it always wander to food?! I took the edge off by filling up my jug that I use for the bus and filled it full of water and a couple of drops of that stuff you use to flavor water with & it worked! I am so glad I didn't cave. I even told my husband, I'm not even hungry. & he's like it's just cause you're bored. I said I guess so. It's a hard thing to fight through! But I did it:)

Hi, Stephanie! :)

Remember, we are recovering carboholics.
Early on during recovery, cravings for carbs will be the greatest.
Over time, they will lessen in strength and in frequency.

So stay the course, and you'll get where you want to go! ;D

Tony is correct Steph, you'll always be an addict. Are you hungry during these episodes?

No I'm not hungry at all. Just seems to always go back to food. Mainly if I'm bored. So I try to stay busy.

Hi, Stephanie! :)

Great strategy! ;D ;D ;D

Emotional eating is a problem for MANY folks.
In fact, emotions are at the core of all addictions.

A major part of what we do in our FTS lifestyle, is learn about how we eat and why.
Once we get a firm understanding of those two, we can equip ourselves to overcome emotional eating.

I've noticed that many in our FTS family that talk about it say that it usually occurs a certain time of day.
Most often, afternoons or evenings after dinner.
Knowing this, by changing routines during those "weak" times will break the "emotion eating" cycle.

By staying busy during those times, you're giving your mind something else to do other than ponder food.
