Hello all, I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Patrice, I'm 45 and I weight over 400lbs. I don't know my exact weight because my scale capacity is 400lbs. It stopped registering sometime ago so I know I'm well over 400lbs, just how much over is the question. I, like many of you, have battled excess weight all my life. Well, since 9yrs of age. My mom has had me on and I have been on so many diets and diet plans that I can't even imagine how many. I've been hypnotized, scrutinized, threatened, bribed etc when it comes to me losing weight. NONE of it worked. The only plan that has remotely came close to helping me win this battle was following the Atkin's plan. I know low carb eating is best for my body and although this style of eating is contrary to most of the people in my circle, I'm returning to what I know is best for ME! I'm so grateful to have come across this forum. Just knowing that there are others out there with my plight means so much. Your support and any suggestions towards helping me to be successful are truly appreciated. I too desire to encourage you all to continue the great work and look forward to seeing and hearing you success stories. May God bless us all to win this battle!!!

Welcome to the FTS family, Patrice!!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

If you haven't read Doug's book, you should.
I've read it well over 20 times!
It properly lays the foundation for the FTS lifestyle.

Low carb lifestyles in recent years have been getting more attention.
The reason... living this way REALLY works!

What's nice about the FTS approach is that it focuses on replacing high carb junk we like
with foods that are good for us, filling, and absolutely delicious!
And our forum is LOADED with fabulous recipes, too! ;D

If you have any questions, concerns, announcements, or just want to vent
please don't hesitate to chime in with us.
Participation in our discussions here is a big help for many ESPECIALLY newbies.

We're here to help you whenever you need us. :)

Hi Patrice..its always easier to talk to people with the same problems and also to strangers.  Family and friends, even though we love them and they love us, have preconceived ideas about us and both they and ourselves sometimes tiptoe around each other trying to avoid hurt feelings.

We are a family of sorts here, we support each other but we also try to say it as it is.  Here U can ask for advice, support, a shoulder to cry on and have someone who will listen if you want to rant and rave.

Please join in Patrice and let us know how you are going.

Thank you to all who commented and encouraged me. I am truly thrilled to have such a great support team. Doug and the others who asked, I have not had the opportunity to read the book yet, but with your recommendations, I plan on purchasing it on my Nook to do so. I am still doing very well on my new low carb lifestyle and I absolutely love all of the numerous of recipes we have to choose from. As I mentioned before I'm not quite sure how much I weighed in at when I started last Tuesday the 11th, but I feel so much better inwardly and have noticed some slight changes in the fit of some of my clothes :))) Umpa I will definitely use your favorite recipe converter column. I've actually printed a folder full of the many yummy sounding recipes I've found on the forum. I can't wait to try the low carb dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes and maccafoni recipes. I plan on taking them with me to the Thanksgiving dinner my family is having. This way I won't be tempted and no one will feel I'm missing out. By doing this I can avoid being pressured to just have a taste of those HIGH CARB FOODS that will be so prevalent. Once again thank you all so very much for you advice and words of encouragement. I will definitely keep you posted on how I am maintaining my new low carb lifestyle.

Wonderful, hope you find all that you need. I still need to buy green beans, cauliflower and broccoli. I have to shop Wednesday and I know it will be busy, oh well.

Hello all, as I mentioned yesterday I went shopping for some of my ingredients for some of the yummy low carb recipes. I fixed the dressing and OH MY GOODNESS, it was DELICIOUS!!! I'm so excited to take this along with me to our family dinner Thursday. I plan on having everyone taste it. I did tweak it some, I love sage so I added much more than the recipe suggested. I also added some flaxseed mill for fiber. I can't wait to make another batch. My next recipe to try is the candied turnips. Thanks for sharing these wonderful recipes. They are truly making my lifestyle change enjoyable.
